well Ive got a 3ds and Im enjoying it even with such a weak launch line up but once it starts getting some good stuff its going to be unstoppable, I might get a psv but only if they let me port my psp games to it, otherwise I might once it gets cheap but probably not, I dont relish the idea of sony having my online info since they seem to be under attack alot

What I'm guessing is that the Vita might become more popular than the 3DS simply because of the fact that you can actually "decently" play FPS and TPS games on it with it's 2 analog sticks. And let's face it, the FPS genre has become one of the biggest in the industry...

I'll wait for 3DS to go down in price then I'll get one. I'm just sick of the "hardcore" titles that vita is going to try and put out.

I don't know...

Back in the old days Nintendo had the first Gameboy. It was a monstrous thing; huge, heavy, black/white low res screen, no battery life. Of course it was the first handheld Nintendo made, so okay.

At the same time there was the Sega Game Gear. That handheld was technically superior in every way. It also had color screen. Yet, the Game Gear went into oblivion and we got stuck with the Gameboy. Why? Because of the games. But why? I really don't know why developers flocked around the Gameboy.

Déjà vu?

with the psv ill have to wait to see the launch lineup and if its backwards compatible
I'm not entirely certain about this since I'm not really bothered to surf around Google for five minutes, but I doubt it, for several reasons. Number one is that Sony has always been really, really bad with backwards compatibility. PSX games can potentially brake your PS2 etc.

Another reason is that I've heard that PSV games are going to use SD card-ish things instead of UMDs. More than likely the fact that SD cards are apparently the memory storage equivalent of sex or something.
the back wards compatavility is a big thing for me on this one considering i have a decent amount of games for the system that i love playing also the same reason i didnt get the psp go[/quote]

as of right now its only backwards compatible if you bought the game online like with the psp go or something
really sony would have to come out with some kind of peripheral umd player or something, if they let you just activate the umd games on your system I would be sold but I seriously doubt they will

really the only company that does backwards compatibility right is nintendo, the only thing that does it better is the pc since you can almost always play old games on that if you know how

well thats an interesting question, the psv seems to want to have the power of a current console but those are expensive as hell to make games for, the 3ds is pretty powerful also but probably cheaper to make games for, kind of like the difference between the ps2 and the xbox, really if nintendo can keep it from getting flooded in shovelware then it could have that magic balance between graphics and cost to create. Not to mention that the 3d is really cool in some games, like street fighter 4, I cant play it without the 3d on, it just looks to damn cool

From the other thread my understanding is that you have to pay a monthly service fee through AT&T to access the web on the Vita, correct? That right there makes it vastly inferior to the 3DS, even though I fucking hate the 3D on that thing.

Basically it's looking like I could care less about the new generation of handhelds until I can get one at a REALLY low price.
That's only if you want 3G access, which in all honesty I see no point in having especially now that they're using AT&T, since you can't use the 3G to play online, just do some 'social' stuff. I'd rather save the $50 from getting the 3G Model, get the Wi-fi only and buy another game with the money.

I preferred my PSP over my DS, and I'll probably prefer the PSV over the 3DS.
