I ain't no dream wizard neither but as it tends to be,dreams are caused from mental stimuli like what has happened in your day and such.Did something odd or striking happen that day?

I'm incapable of explaining any of my dreams.

People are always telling me about their dreams like "I went to the supermarket with my mom and we got in a fight"

I have never had a dream like that. My dreams are complex worlds I invented in my sleep with nothing related to this world except sometimes me and tits.

95% of the time, it's mundane stuff, but there are occasional times where I'll have this wild and crazy, incredibly-detailed dream. I've got some of them written down.

I have lots of dreams where I'm in an action-movie style situation, or a living character inside an adventure game. Sometimes I'm even aware that I'm in a dream, which is awesome.

Dreamt about being in a metallic crypt under a high ceiling, with a sarcophagus in the middle, and I woke up when an alien-like creature from Alien Vs. Predators suddenly sits upright on the sarcophagus.

Another time I was bicycling through Manhattan, with all my family and friends turned to stone (it was dead quiet).

Finally, I was invited to a high school reunion in a dream once (and I am still in highschool now). During the dinner, Vladmir Putin told me that my father and stepfather have both died terrible deaths.

When you dream, how expansive is your dream? is it simple or would the things you dream about, if real, would be a life changing or a world changing event.

I tend to dream about small almost meaningless and minuet things, like last night I dreamt Panty and Stocking was on iTunes. Another night I dreamt I owned world of warcraft *which is weird because I have no desire to own that game*.
It varies with me.

I have had a problem with horrible, ultra intense nightmares, including ones where I think I'm awake (or might be), generally referred to as "Night Terrors". One of the wonderful things that goes along with my problems. I take a drug called Gabitril to help deal with this.

I've mentioned all of this in threads with people talking about problems with nightmares, and recommended talking to doctors about that drug if they got too bad, simply because it works for me (but again I am not a physician which is why I recommend talking to one).

I've ranged from dreamless sleep, or not being able to remember my dreams, all the way up to "OMG" vivid dreams, along with the intense nightmares of course.

My dreams seem almost like video games and real-life experienced combined.

They can seem epic, enormous, down-to-earth, personal, emotional, and right back to epic within the same dream.

If I awake from a deep enough sleep, I'm left emotional and longing to go back into my dreams to continue the story.

this may be normal to some people, but not to me, Ive been having a dream every single night, last night, it was about heaven, i thought it was fantastic, and it looked incredibly realistic, but it forgot some things (wings, "streets of gold"{[small]at least i think that's what it said it looked like, i don't remember[/small]}etc.) oh well, i don't expect my dreams to be logical.

but if i had to say what 'level' it is, i'd give it either a 3 or 4 out of 5
Your lucky, the last dream I remember was one where I was driving my car home a long way and hitting people, but didn't want to stop and take respnsibility. When I got home I tried to cover it up. I felt really guilty when I woke up about the desicians I made there.

Psychologists would have a field day with that I'm sure, but the bottom line is that my dreams are rarely all that pleasant. They range from wierd, to disturbing. I'm more likely to dream about being punished for something than I am to about going to heaven or whatever.

Meh. I don't really "dream", I just think with my eyes closed. My "dreams" are no different from my normal thoughts in that I have near complete control over them, and I am always aware of what's going on.

But the dreams YOU guys seem to be having sound sweet! Where's my slice of the pie?

My dreams are... odd... a long time ago I had a dream where I was taking a shower at the local swimming pool then out of nowhere one of my class mates (Female) walked in and gave me a couch and left... another time I was driving a car around town then there was a squid on my head and my car melted into the road... so... yeah like I said, very odd...

I can't really tell, I usually have very poor vision in my dreams. Maybe I should dream up some glasses more often.
Me too! It makes me wonder if needing glasses/contacts in real life to see means you need them in dreams too, sice I am near sighted.

OT: My dreams vary. Some are just me walking around, others are about deeper things.

The weird thing about me is that I never ever remember my dreams, in fact sometimes I'm not even sure if I dream at all. There's just one dream I've had recently that I do vaguely rmember the gist of, and that's all. It's basically me at work being called to the general office (I work in a supermarket) along with three girls, who I apparently (in the dream) am flirting with. Two I know, they're my real-life co-workers (one's around my age, the other is slightly younger, only 17 - I'm 20, for the record). The third isn't named, and I don't even know a third girl around my age in my department (though there are other girls, they work different shifts to me).

The most confusing part is that first of all, I don't have any feelings whatsoever for either of these girls, and as far as I'm aware they don't have any feelings for me either. The other confusing part is that there's no way I'd ever be flirting with a girl, because I'm nowhere near confident enough to actually do so. So this dream has got me all shook up (hey, can somebody tell me what it means?).

(Oh, and a cookie for anyone who understands the pop culture reference from that last sentence. And another cookie to anyone who actually can give clever, reasonable [i.e. not silly or jokey] advice on my dream...)
Perhaps it's just your brain running through possible scenarios?

I know that oftentimes when I dream, it's my brain putting together contingency plans for if certain events were to happen. That sounds really weird when I say it, but that's just the way my dreams tend to feel to me.

My dreams, when I remember them, generally seem to be very loosely connected events that make no real sense. They just happen. I generally feel like I'm in a hazy trance. Kinda like being drunk. Most nights though, I can't remember anything, like I've just blacked out before waking up. Very occasionally, dreams come through almost crystal clear though, and I can remember sounds, smells, what happened etc. These ones normally tend to have plot too.

I'm afraid I don't merely use one level. It is all the more likely that the time and the circumstances affect the nature of the sleep and the dream, along with its level. So for me, and probably anyone else, the answer is "It varies".

It varies, some nights I dream expansive adventures about fighting Nazis with a gigantic mech, other nights I dream that I'm eating pasta.

what do you mean on what level? cause if this is that inception crap, I didnt see the movie. I do know there are five levels of sleep, but thats about all.
Good job, really outstanding reading comprehension, there. The OP was what, about three and half lines of text? Come on.

Anyway, OT: it varies. I've had (very confusing) dreams where I wake up and start getting ready for the day, only to wake up "for real" a few minutes in, with everything looking the same as when I woke up in the dream.

I have also dreamed of being cornered by a balrog in my elementary school cafeteria, and escaping in a magical, flying shopping cart.

I also used to have a recurring nightmare (not for at least five years now, don't remember much) involving a cursed object and it's many owners over several decades. I believe that I started the dream as George Washington, and I would follow the object though the decades as it made it's way to me.
...Yeah, that was a weird one.

For me it's usually something life changing, like someone I care about dying or falling in love.

I used to be like that most of the time. I'd remember a few really mundane fragments of dream; a conversation with someone, picking up a rock, looking up at the sky, etc.

I've been taking anxiety meds for a while, and they come with the side effect of my dreams becoming more vivid, colourful, and fantastic. It weirded me out at first, because I was used to almost never remembering anything from a dream. But honestly, it's really freaking cool.
