One for the British Escapists (Anyone else feel free to join in though)

So I've been bugged for the last half month because I suddenly had some very vivid memories from my childhood, specifically four television series I used to watch. Two were easy to remember, and are still quite famous today, the other two were only shown at school, because they were educational programs, and were much harder to find nowadays.

1. The Demon Headmaster
2. The Queen's Nose
3. Through the Dragon's Eye
4. Spywatch

I'm not even sure if most of the escapists here would be old enough to remember the intial showings of any of these programs, but I'm told they have been rebroadcast every so often, presumably because they represent some great nostalgic moment for British kids.

Did you watch these? Can you remember them? Are there other shows from your childhood you want to talk about? Let's get nostalgic for some of the badly acted, under-funded, absolutely brilliant shows of our childhoods.

To anyone not British, feel free to reminisce about something similar from American schools or mid-90s children's TV shows.

Also, if you weren't the right age (I'd guess you'd have to be over 18 to have watched these the first time round), what did you watch at primary school that stuck with you?

I remember watching the Queen's nose with my older sister all of the time when I was in primary school! Didn't they remake it too? And when I was younger still, Brum was a definite favourite. Thinking about it now, I don't think I'll ever be able to understand why a program such as Brum could ever have been so captivating.

Edit:

I'm going to break away from those two examples because I just thought of one of my FAVOURITE cartoons when I was younger. Funnybones, anyone?

Im old enough to Remember the queen's nose and the demon headmaster. they bring back tons of great memories of my childhood.

The demon headmaster used to creep me out as a kid especially his eyes when he did that whole hypnotizing thing to bend people to his will (kind of like lelouch from code geass in a sense). I remember he used to use different means of brainwashing people and everytime his plans always got done in by a bunch of kids. My memory of it is abit jaded because i haven't seen it in well over a decade.

The queen's nose was a good programme also. Its a simple premist (girl manages to find a magic 50 pence peace and when she rubs the nose she gets a wish) but it was told in a good way and in most cases more often than not, the wishes she makes are not always what they seem and wanting to know what the consquences of the wishes where is what hooked me as a kid.

I remember the Demon Headmaster and the Queen's Nose. I thought (and still do think) that they were great children's television. It was the normal juxstaposed with the supernatural/sureal and I think that made really great children's TV. I found the Queen's Nose especially compelling because of the charecters and plots where every wish was a sort of moral lesson, I still have a vivid memory of one scene of the main charecter tying the coin to a string a balloons and letting it fly away so someone else could have the next set of wishes. No, seriously. (I'm sure the scene was in the show and I wasn't just imaging it).
If only children's television was that good now, it's all a bit too, err... safe I feel. Bring back Byker Grove!

I remember Demon Headmaster and the Queen's Nose, although I didn't watch them myself. I personally can't remember many shows I watched in my youth, they only really trigger when someone posts something as amazing as Funny Bones (I haven't heard any mention of that show in years).

Another show which just came to me is Round the Twist, but again I didn't really watch it.

Edit: This thread has sent my memories into overdrive. Sharky and George:

I...I.. I think I feel slightly offended here. So all us non native english speaking top-hat wearing doolads can't get nostalgic, is that it?

Anywho, in Norway we did have sesame street, only in Norwegian with different characters and set location. It was called Sesam Stasjon, oh the memories, those were happier times.

Holy hell, that was aaaaaaaages ago. I used to love that show.

OT: I remember 'The Queen's Nose' and I distinctly remember 'The Demon Headmaster', but only as the name rings a bell. And I remember I used to watch a lot of Scooby Doo, Basil Brush and Woody Woodpecker back then. ...I fecking loved Basil Brush and Scooby Doo back then. Way too much time spent watching the shows.

I remember them all. Anyone remember Pirates? It was about a bunch of stereotypical pirates living in a council house. Their crew included an old grandma captain, a guy in a sack, and a baby that emits green light.

Ahh, Bernard. That show was the tireless subject of many class debates: what would we do with a time stopping watch?

Bloody hell... I'll be the first to admit to being old (EDIT: okay, someone else ninja'd me while I was typing). I remember the first three very clearly. Just looked up Spywatch, apparently that was a fair bit later, didn't start airing until I was half way through secondary school so I wouldn't have been the target audience.

Through The Dragon's Eye seriously freaked me out as a kid... just thinking about it in this post has brought the theme song back into my mind. Must've been 1991 when I watched it first time around, but I saw the whole series again about ten years later. It's not a bad story for something that's designed to help primary school kids read. Didn't see much of The Demon Headmaster, but The Queen's Nose was good (as was the book it was based on).

...Geordie Racer, anyone?

The Queen's nose. Those kids with the lucky 50p coin that granted 3 wishes to everyone (I think) I remember that. Good show. Demon headmaster sounds awefully familiar and spy watch does too. Ahh the good ol' day. Nothing on TV today is as good. Now git off ma lawn you little brats.

Bernard's watch is also a fantastic show. Damn now those are memories. I only remember a few scenes of a few of the shows but I do remember watching it and enjoying it a lot.

EDIT: I don't know if it's still being shown and I think this goes back further but who remember Brum?

Bloody hell... the mere mention of those shows takes me wayyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back. I'd almost forgotten that I'd actually lived that part of my life and upon remembering... I wish I had. Apart from Through the Dragon's Eye if that's actually anything like I remember... it's a little too tripped out to be an educational show don't you think?

I'm Irish and I remember seeing The Queens Nose.

There's one someone might be able to help me with actually - it was about a boy who had a magic pocket-watch, and pressing the button on it paused time until he pressed it again.
I can't think of the name of it...
