This may take some explaining, inevitable masturbation jokes aside.

Earlier this summer (it's the star of summer where I'm located), I had an accident that ended with my left arm getting fractured in six places, with some nerve damage that has rendered my left thumb and pointer unusable. While I've already had the operation to place a metal bar in my arm, for the next six months will be spent re-learning to write (I'm left-handed, and to add insult to injury, my day job requires me to do a lot of writing). The problem with being essentially one-handed is that I can no longer play the games I had saved for the summer (Assassin's Creed 3, Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider).

What I'm asking for then, is for games I can reasonably play with just my right hand. I've been playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for a few weeks now, but I'm gonna have an opportunity to get new games next week. Any suggestions?

How many buttons does your mouse have? With enough extra buttons Magicka can be played one handed quite comfortably.

[must resist urge to joke about masturbation]

OT: Neverwinter Nights (1&2) are point and clicky. They're a bit older so system requirements are pretty low.

Captcha: "uncle leo?"... what?

So you have written this one handed?Damn you are seriously bored. And i shall try and give a suggestion for that well deserving wall of text.

Driving games
FTL(it has pause button)
Dragon age(again pause button)
Sports games
Dear esther(pressing only 1 key not technikly a game)
Any point and click adventure.
Walking dead(by telltale)

OK thats how many games a wall of one-handed text deserves i hope others contribute cause i aint got a clue aside from those i already listed

That sucks, very unlucky. Your best bet is probably some single player RTS and some low intensity MMOs or MOBAs, taking six months to heal probably means its worth getting a multi button mouse too.

It's a standard mouse (2 buttons + wheel), and I don't want to spend money on one of those gaming mice

The Legend of Grimrock has a option where you can control everything via the mouse, so you might want to check it out; it was added specifically at the request of a handicapped gamer. It's an amazing game with a great mod scene. Most strategy games like the Total War games can also be played with just one hand. FTL: Faster Than Light is an insanely good game, but be warned, it may consume your life. XCOM: Enemy Unkown I am pretty sure can be played solely with the mouse. The rereleases of the Monkey Island adventure games would also be very easy to play with just one hand.

An accident, eh? So...I guess you were only mauled by a grue, then?

Cheesy jokes aside, Don't Starve is a pretty fun game that can be played one handed. I'll second FTL: Faster Than Light. Legend of Grimrock can be played with just the mouse, though I really don't recommend it. If you have a mouse with a few extra buttons, it would be easier, but I still wouldn't recommend it unless you're up for a serious challenge.

Pretty much any ARPG can be played mouse only, especially if you have a mouse with extra buttons. I suggest you check out Path of Exile. [http://www.pathofexile.com/] It's pretty fun, and since it's sorta MMO-ish, you can get help if you need it.

Believe me, the details of the accident itself are much worse than a few bad jokes.

It takes patience. Learning to type one-handed is way easier than learning to write with my non-dominant hand.

1) Extremely unlucky. The accident happened literally on the first day of summer break.
2) Maybe its my ignorance, but what's a MOBAs?
3) I can't splurge on a fancy gaming mouse. Teacher's salaries are crap as is, and I'm saving up so I can get a place near where I work.

I'd actually totally forgotten about XCOM, so thanks for that. I have never heard of Legend of Grimrock though.

Most RTS games can be played with only a mouse, as long as you are just playing casually and not competitive.

Diablo 2 as summoning Necromancer works great with one hand (speaking from experience here). There're probably other character builds and other ARPGs where it's possible, depending on how many buttons your mouse has. Other logical choices would be turn based games like XCOM or Civilisation and point & click adventure games like stuff by Daedalus Entertainment or Telltale (Walking Dead probably isn't that great since it involves QTEs) as already mentioned.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, games like League of Legends or DOTA. You will want a less competitive or demanding one though, cannot really recommend one though I am not that into the genre so sorry about that. There will be some that are less reliant on hotkeys or that have have a slower pace.

Knights of the Old Republic (at least 2) is surprisingly possible to play one handed. If you look up the keyboard shortcuts almost everything can be done through them (I suspect that comes from the console design). Every now and then a click will be required but the game isn't twitch so you can move over to the mouse.

Alternately absolutely everything can be done with mouse, no keyboard at all (I just find the keyboard quicker) and that's definitely true of KotOR 1 and KotOR 2

Most RTS' should be playable, as long as you don't want to play online and you don't mind turning the difficulty settings down a bit. Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm campaign is pretty good

There are a couple of moments in The Walking Dead that might be difficult (unless you have a laptop) a very few sequences involve pressing Q and then following that up with using the mouse for something, but they're rare enough that someone should be able to get through them with only a tiny but of preparation.

After I dislocated my shoulder, I had very limited use of my left arm for several weeks. During my recovery, I sank many hours into Medieval 2: Total War.

Ah. I never play those, because people in my country are crazy about them, and act like idiots about it. Case in point:
The mind boggles, couldn't believe it when that one guy had a knife. Suppose its like any competitive sport really, people get worked up enough and behave like animals.
