I think they are actually evil, as far as corporations go. True story: the poor condition of this game incensed me so much that I actually attempted to return it to Ubisoft, who flatly refused to provide me with a refund. They were, however, nice enough to direct me to the small print on their product that said the game came with absolutely no warranty whatsoever and was sold "as is." That is essentially legal speak for "we're keeping your money if the product doesn't work--sucks to be you!" That is evil. Most reputable companies don't disclaim their warranties because (1) they stand behind their products and don't expect them to break, and (2) if they do break, the companies believe their customers are deserving of a refund. Corporations like Ubisoft that don't offer warranties are basically warning you that they don't stand behind their product at all and you should purchase at your own peril. Well, lesson learned for me!

3 things in life are certain.

Death, taxes and Ubisoft fucking detest PC gamers.

Seriously though, anyone who still buys Ubisoft games on the PC after this long being screwed over by them really do deserve the problems they get with their game.

It's a widely known fact that Ubisoft has shit ports, arse end DRM and servers that go down faster than Paris Hilton on cock.

People already know this, they have known it for years. When I read about a new Ubi game and see the floods of folk whining about something being wrong I only have this to say....

IT'S YOUR OWN FUCKING FAULT.

Yeah Ubisoft really has a shitty reputation for good reasons but personally I think that Rockstar is even worse when it comes to PC ports. At least Ubisoft has been trying to get better since they've removed always-on DRM from Anno 2070, Assassin's Creed 2 and some others I believe. And you can get Far Cry 1 and 2 with no DRM from GoG.com. I'm not on Ubisofts side on this, but things aren't black and white. It irritates me a lot that Ubisoft makes many really good games and then mess up the ports.

Even the console versions are full of issues, although the PC gamers seem to be getting the worst of it.

On the Xbox the multiplayer lag can be atrocious, and considering a split second can make all the difference, it can be unplayable at times.

The amount of times in the campaign I instantly failed missions due to faulty AI (like the person I am supposed to be chasing already out of range once the cutscene ends) is also appalling.

Overall I prefer it to Brotherhood and Revelations, but my god do they need to employ bug testers.

It's a really weird issue. My friend can't run it properly and he has a better rig than me. Mine doesn't drop under 50fps maxed settings no matter what's on the screen.
However, the game is definitely not optimized. Even though I'm getting playable fps, when I turn on MSI afterburner, I can clearly see that the GPU usage is NEVER above 50%. Can you imagine how well it would run if GPU usage was normal?

I'm still rather pissed off at the game freezes I get all the time on my XBox. I can't tell you how many "Can't Read Disc" errors I've gotten with this game, which was pre-ordered and brand new so there couldn't be any scratches on the disc already. My first one came literally 15 minutes into the game when you're playing as the guy in the opera house and you have to sneak up to the balcony. After the first climbing section you get to the first locked door. "CANNOT READ DISC!" Every now and then this error would pop up, making it VERY frustrating to play through the game. And sure enough, there's a big fat one sitting right at the end of the 40 minute unskippable credit roll, meaning I never get a chance for the game to save and start the "post ending faffing about" bit of the AC games.

It's not my XBox, this is the ONLY game that does this for me. I think Halo 4 did it once or twice but has run perfectly smooth ever since. According to the achievements, there's supposed to be some epilogue missions after the credits in AC 3...yeah, that's content that I'll apparently never get to see due to the roadblock at the end of the credits.

I don't quite understand gamers at this point (Yes, blanket statement. If this doesn't apply to you, feel free to ignore it):

How many times does Ubisoft have to completely fuck up your gaming experience before some of you think "You know what, I'm not going to purchase games from this game company until they prove to me that they are not actually just monkeys banging at a keyboard"? How many games has Ubisoft released that DIDN'T get a thread like this?

If my friend goes to McDonald's and complains that the burger doesn't look like the one on the menu the first time, that makes sense. If my friend goes to McDonald's and complains that the burger doesn't look like the one on the menu for the tenth time...

How many times can Ubisoft con gamers into giving them money? Gamers who complain about getting ripped off by Ubisoft are becoming those people you see who fall for Nigerian Prince Scams: All I can do is shake my head and wonder how anyone can still possibly fall for it.
Yeah, I've stopped buying Ubisoft games. At least on the PC. They've repeatedly shown they just don't know how to do them well, or they put awful DRM on them. They've also been shackling 'em with Uplay lately, and I have no idea why people aren't throwing such a huge fit over it like they did Origin since it's way, WAY worse than Origin.

So yeah, no more Ubisoft games on the PC for me anymore. I recommend everyone do the same. Of course it sucks if all you have is a gaming PC, but do you really want to keep buying broken-ass games? Save your money for games that work.

I have it on the PS3, and I've only encountered a couple of bugs. My custom marker being placed in the middle of the map if I complete the quest I previously marked, a weird graphical glitch in the Underground where some water should have been, a missing body needed for a quest, and a glitch with one of the Fort raids. Nothing terrible, compared to other games I've played (looking at you Skyrim).

This is where that false sense of entitlement comes in. People throw around the word "entitled" too much, granted, but here?

Gamers of all stripes tend to not have the ability to stop playing games, even if they're broken or incomplete, then complain. Okay, fair enough, but don't keep going back. PC gamers seem to be the worst about this. You find a game that doesn't work, that's one thing. You keep buying games from a company known for broken games, shitty ports, etc.? Another entirely.

Software is a terrible place for consumer rights. It's imperative to do your homework (Which the topic creator did) and not support people who don't do a good job.

The PS3 version is incredibly shoddy, too. The framerate doesn't even appear to reach 30 and the controls are highly unresponsive compared to the last few games. [small]It's also fucking ugly.[/small]

I've heard it isn't that much better on 360. Methinks it's just a poorly put together game.

I am about 8 hours in, Conner is just an adult now. Only issue I have encountered is the psychedelic hair in the sunlight, but this is a video driver issue and Nvidia is fixing it in the next driver release. Also don't get the hate for U-Play, but I didn't get the hate for Origin either.

But Motdef has been finding such amusing bugs in the game.

Otherwise just insert the usual Ubisoft dislike here.

I've been playing on 360 for the past couple of days and so far:

1. Constant 30 FPS, never drops once even when there is a lot of enemies.
2. Very responsive controls
3. No glitches yet and I am more than half way through the game.

I played the game and finished it no problems (aside from occasional glitch like going through the floor or being stuck). I'm on PC by the way.

This makes me sad :( ubisoft took itself of my fuck-you list with farcry 3, and to a certain degree with driver san francisco(altough that was the moment i had to register for uplay, with it's fucking annoying register process)
I was planning on buying ac3 but i'm going to wait for a while, thanks for the heads-up.

To people saying: "just don't buy the game" this is where the unforunate thing comes in, on paper and at moments that they work these games are awesome. if it where an generic racer of fps i whould skip it in a heartbeat but games like this don't have much competition. It is always shitty to support a company that you dont like because the games kinda make up for it. same with dark souls pc version for me and bethesda as a whole. other example: Arma II

That and the fact that i only own a gaming pc make for some tough decisions sometimes :/ maybe i'll wait for the next steam-sale this summer.

Eh, it was pretty horribly optimized and I never stopped making comments about how nice it would've been to play it at a smooth 60 FPS, but I still played completely through it just fine, so I'd say calling it "unplayable" is a bit of a stretch.

But then, I've seen tons of PC gamers call 30-40 FPS "unplayable", so what do I know?
Most people having fps problems speak of 8 to 15 fps in problem-areas. While not technically unplayable, that pretty much feels like watching a slideshow.
I raided in World of Warcraft for three years with an average of 3 FPS, and was still consistently one of the top damage-dealers in my guild. That's watching a slide-show.

Granted, AC3 never dropped into the single-digits for me, but even drops below 20 FPS were few and far between. If my laptop's two-year old hardware could run it like that, you'd figure people actually concerned about getting 60+ FPS in every game would probably be even better off than I.

Like I said, it's a horribly optimized game and I won't argue with anyone who wants to complain about the framerate. I just don't like hyperbolic statements used to generate attention if they're not funny, and Assassin's Creed III isn't actually unplayable unless you are really physically incapable of playing a game that has dropped below 20-30 FPS, which is a condition that I've never heard of before.
It's a lot easier to play an MMO like WoW on low frame rates than games like Assassin's Creed, which rely on counter mechanics and timing. I'm happy playing Minecraft or Runescape, even RTSes at low frame rates. I'm not happy playing Lugaru, Counter Strike or AC with them.

I had my own problems with AC. The control binding menu is a stupid piece of rubbish, which you almost need instructions for. That's pathetic. I remember that games from the 90's used simple tables for the action and key. Incredibly simple and intuitive. Instead, AC uses a strange list, which means that you can't see all the bindings at once, and then I think you had to hold enter, or Left Mouse to make the binding changeable? I don't recall which, but after trying delete and backspace to annoying results, I was not impressed. Even once I got the bindings set up, the game is boring. It's going onto my "Probably not finishing" Pile.

You know I always hear things like this.

I heard about it with New Vegas, which was supposedly a buggy trainwreck, and the only bugs I ever experienced in that game were purely graphical and quickly fixed just by switching areas and returning. Assuming I cared enough.

Haven't had any issues with my PS3 AC3, and I'm enjoying the game quite a bit.

Huh. Maybe I heard wrong. Or know one unlucky Xbox owner.
