Uh... just... uh. had a really awful day in ovewatch. Only game I won was because the other team had a quitter, lost three skill levels and the lootcrate from it all gave me two sprays and two player icons.

So anyone else need to vent about their bad luck/bad day?

Well, I don't do much by way of multiplayer these days, but I can boast that I held the record for headshot distance on one particular Battle Grounds server. Given that Battle Grounds is a Half-Life mod set during the American Revolution (and not, say, a war between various types of coffee bean, though arguably a headshot in that would be even more impressive), a hit to the head at 600 feet, when hitting at all at half that distance is as much a matter of luck as anything else, would certainly be worthy of boasting about- except that I was on the receiving end. I stepped out of the spawn area, saw the puffs of smoke at the top of the fort (not just firing for effect, either; that smoke blocked line of sight), then died as the headshot notification popped up and everyone congratulated the shooter, who was as surprised as I was.

I do have another story, but I was again on the wrong side. Starsiege: Tribes had a very popular mod called "Shifter" that greatly expanded the available number of, well, pretty much everything. More suits, more weapons, more deployables, more vehicles, everything. One of those weapons was a tactical nuke launcher, that could only be mounted on the heaviest of suits (which had jets, but pretty much just for decoration), and was an indirect fire weapon that all but needed a targeting laser. For these reasons, almost no one ever used it. So one day, I'm following my usual strategy of slapping down a radar-blocking deployable and sniping at skiiers, when I spot one of the ultra-heavies stepping out of the front of his base and aiming with a heavy, indirect-fire weapon. Even my heaviest rifle, which only carried ten shots and had a volume level of "two simultaneous space shuttle liftoffs crashing into each other" couldn't kill him, but I could wound him something fierce. I take aim at his head and pull the trigger, but at the last second, my wrist twitches, and the shot goes awry. Downwards. To the gun in his hand. Tribes let you shoot the gun out of someone's hand, but before this I didn't think it was possible to do it as it was firing, to the point that the shell they just shot lands at their feet, impotently arcing toward nowhere.

This was also when I learned just how powerful the tactical nuke was. It went off, destroying him, a third of his team, and all their frontal defenses. My team promptly surged forward, and quickly won. I only stuck around because I didn't want to bail on them; the poor guy I disarmed was immediately banned for teamkilling. I headed over the clan's website and forum, wrote a post explaining what happened, and apologizing to the guy I'd accidentally gotten banned. The total elapsed time between the explosion and my posting what I wrote was less than ten minutes, but the guy (apparently a regular on both the forums and the server) had already written a lengthy screed roundly condemning me for what I'd done, and threatening me with some surprisingly creative forms of violence. They did reinstate him, but it must've been a truly terrible experience nonetheless.

I had a game in War Thunder a couple of weeks ago, in which I somehow killed 17 tanks and suffered no deaths. On a whim, I decided to go hunting through my replays for it, to see if I could submit it to their channel on YouTube. I was a little crestfallen to see a message telling me that the file was from a now outdated version of the game and couldn't even be opened. So there it sits.

Who in the hell designed WarThunder/World of Tanks's replay system, and would you liked to join me in murdering them?

Seems harsh. All I know is that it's on an unrecognized format and uses different code with each update. It's a bit of a shame, really, because it keeps a thick folder full of them and most are now...filler. Sad dugs.

Earlier today I was playing "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" on the new Fracture game mode. Won't bore with the details on what you do but the score to win is 75. My team was winning 55-19. Let's just say we lost.

This happened yesterday on street fighter 5. Im not too mad because i was playing casual matches ( which i find more fun than ranked), but i couldn't win a game. Not one. It was loss after loss after loss. I was just playing so poorly
I usually win most of my matches, but that day it was like if everyone had the cheatnotes to my brain before i did.

Gosh I feel you about Overwatch! All of my worst experiences with that game has been nicely condensed into competitive mode for some unlucky reason. Heck my qualifier matches were literally based out of this:

2 wins (both just barely)
The rest losses due to either unlucky disconnects (which never happened to me before) or players in my team actively sabotaging the match for us, most notably a torbjorn spent the match building turrets in the spawn "for lulz" and a Symmetra whose goal was to see how many own-team kills she could get by placing her portal over ledges.

From there on out it was just enough wins not to make up for the way too large knock in rank you take for every loss, and I had a lot of losses. And to top it off I'd end every play session with opening a loot box just to get all white and blue junk.

Coincedentally I'm currently taking a break from Overwatch at the moment haha.

Finished Mad Max yesterday and was just mopping up trophies in the hope of getting the sweet sweet platinum. I get every trophy except one which I thought I knew how to get. It turns out that I had misunderstood what challenges the trophy expected of me, I thought it wanted me to do all the little tasks dotted around the map. What I didn't realize is that what it really wanted me to complete the list of challenges that I had stopped paying attention to once Max was fully levelled up about halfway through the game.

I took a look at the challenges I had to complete and it was stuff like "defeat an enemy in a certain car during a storm". So you want me to be in this car, fighting a enemy during something that happens at random? Screw that, life is too short.

So with heavy heart, I abandoned my platinum quest and deleted the game from my hard drive seeing as I will never play the game ever again. To say I was a little disappointed is an understatement.

There's a good chance of this every time I fire up TF2. Whether it's horribly stacked teams, spawn camping Demomen, MLG pro Scouts that you just can't hit or players idling/trading/faffing about instead of going for the objective (except for 24/7 2Fort servers...those are MADE for faffing about).

To be fair, your average player skill level and team composition has improved on community servers since the Matchmaking update, which means fewer hair-pulling instances of half the team consisting of clueless Gibus Snipers/Spies.

Destiny, last Iron Banner (yeah, I know, "who plays that game" etc). I was doing quite well during the previous days, mi Titan was on a roll, 7 wins one after the other the previous day, so I was confident... this was a friday. Got in, and got matched against a clan, on our side we were all solos and only 5, they got first kill, the guy that was killed left. 4v6. We were defeated. Next game, again leavers, defeat. Another game, leavers again....defeat. My clan was finally connected so we got together... connection issues with our two best players, defeat again. I think I got ten defeats in total. Three with my clan.
During all that time I just needed to grab heavy ammo to complete a bounty... could not do it.
And the drops.... got nothing, while guys playing much worse, were getting all the goodies.

Salty as I was, I kept going, which just made it worse. I got the bounty though. I will probably not play the next Iron Banner on a Friday.

Saturday and Sunday were actually good again.

Update to my overwatch woes - Lost another 3 skill levels, had a game I was winning crash 'due to a unforeseen error' and the one dude on my friendslist who's usually playing competitive went 'I have lvl 60's I group with and they don't want a lvl 30-odd in the group as they stand to lose too much.'

So many team killers in Rainbow Six Seige.... Why is friendly damage a thing? I cannot think of one moment that it made the game better.

It's not so much a particular game that has me on the ropes right now...but what's really getting to me is the fact that I haven't been particularly excited about a new release in a very long time. By very long time, I mean years. The last game I felt a sense of urgency to get was Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but before that it was when Final Fantasy XIII was initially released back in 2009. Since then, I spend most of my dedicated gaming time spent perfecting classic games or trying to 100% titles that I've had in my collection for quite some time. I keep up with a lot of trending news for releases but there just hasn't been anything in awhile that's jumped out at me to purchase full price.

Fortunately, anticipating the release of Final Fantasy XV has finally given me a rather heightened sense of urgency. I was very pleased by the demo, so it will be relieving to play something that I've actually been longing for.
