I'm looking for a good action rpg esque game for my Nintendo DS.

Lately I've been playing Destinia on my Android Phone and to my surprise I quite like it. Combat is fast and there's lots of loot - it does get a bit repetitious however, which made me look for a more fleshed out game for the DS

I've narrowed my search, somewhat, down to one of the following;

Zelda: Spirit Tracks - I played Phantom Hourglass and LOVED it. Spirit Tracks seems like it will (just?) be more of the same. The thing that puts me off is the combat. In PH it was really easy and the puzzles and exploration made the game for me.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - This is definately action oriented, but does it have loot, skill progression etc.? I almost ordered this today, so it's pretty high on the list.

Okamiden - not sure it really falls into the action rpg category, but I never played Okami for the Wii even tho I always wanted too. This might be too cute of a game tho.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies - This looks really, really good, but I'm put off by the turnbased combat. I'm concerned that I'll find it extremely boring, but apart from that it looks really awesome.

Avalon Code - This sounds very fun and interesting, but several reviews say that the controls and navigation of the book is really cumbersome. I might be reading too much into it?

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days - Hard to put my finger on, but this looks cool. Action rpg with non turn based combat. Disney characters I'm not so sure about tho.

The World Ends with You - This has gotten alot of good review and just sounds like a must play when people mention it.

Basically, if I could get Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age, The Wither, Baldur's Gate, Arcanum or something along those lines I'd be happy :D

Dawn of Sorrow tho...it just looks kickass and I never played anything Castlevania apart from Lords of Shadow which I'm playing on the 360 atm.

My thanks in advance to anyone who would like to share their views on those games, or suggest some of their own :)

Well I can't personally comment on all the games above as I haven't played all of them but I have played DQ9 and TWEWY and I really enjoyed them both.

If you're after an action game then I can't reccomend TWEWY highly enough, great plot, fantastic game mechanics and an awesome soundtrack. Go for it, you won't regret it :)

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is a lot of fun. I say play that one. I have Avalon Code, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I want to try The World Ends With You, but I've heard mixed things about it. And I assume Spirit Tracks is good, but I love anything Zelda.

Zelda: Spirit Tracks - if you liked PH you'll adore this one. It's a HUGE improvement from PH, it'll give you everything that one gave you times 2

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - it's a good game but a bit old, Order of Ecclesia offers more puzzles, side quest, and multiple maps as well as harder difficulty. Its really up to you but I would recommend OoE over DoS

Okamiden - if you like Zelda this should feel very familiar and enjoyable

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies - the game's good but the story is a bit weak, also your character has the personality of a brick which makes it harder to really get into, if you have friends to play it with though this game is amazing, also for looters and completionist you can easily get over 1000 hours of gameplay out of this

Avalon Code - its good if a bit slow story wise. The book is confusing at first. Battles tend to be repetitive from time to time. I wouldn't recommend this unless you're a die hard RPG fanatic

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days - bad game is bad, levels are small and repeated from past KH games, characters are jaggy looking and battle system is dull as can be. Unless you love KH mythos AVOID this game, get Birth By Sleep which is better than KH 1 & 2!

The World Ends with You - you must play this game! Battle system is new and different, story is unique and characters are likeable. Only problem I had was how short the game is

Metroidvania games: all very fun, but are quite challenging, especially order of ecclesia.
TWETY: Cannot highly enough recommend this game. One of my all time favorite game stories.

Ah thanks for all the replies.

Seems like The World Ends With You is a good bet. Let's see if I can snatch that cheap of amazon or something :)

Ok so, I ended up getting Lunar Knights...which wasn't even on the list I posted here. Thanks for all the advice tho, TWEWY looks like a good next buy perhaps. :)
