Good news: He has a good talent/imagination for intense sequences.

Bad news: His dialogue is best reserved for a blog, not a movie.
dude......his dialogue and scripts are the best in the industry
He's not too bad, but waaayy too overrated and unrealistic.

John Carpenter

The good: A master craftsman who sets up every scene brilliantly.

The bad: I hate to say this, but he hasn't made a decent movie since In the Mouth of Madness, though I'm holding out hope that The Ward is good.

QFT. Terry Gilliam made some of the coolest but weirdest films ever. The sad part is that he seems to have a curse that his films are always plagued with executive meddling and the universe conspiring to screw him over.
