George Lucas
Good: Creating a truly unique, controversial and iconic series.
Bad: Not being able to work outside of that genre. (see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull).
Also, Jar Jar Binks.
Also, not knowing when to stop while he's ahead (see Force Unleashed).
Also, making Darth Vader not nearly as badass in games as he is in the films (see Soul Calibur, Force Unleashed).

Zack Snyder
Good: Perfect camera angles, an excellent visionary director, incredible special effects and action scenes (see 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch).
Bad: Realising that the supporting cast needs a degree of depth as well (see 300 and Sucker Punch).
Have you never seen Lucas' American Graffiti?
Actually, no, but thank you for pointing that out. I guess I should do more research before making sweeping statements like that. I stand corrected!

Good: He made or was heavily involved in the making of some genuinely awesome films
Bad: People most know him for a horrific boring atrocity of a film that should have nowhere near the prestige it does.

Guillermo Del Toro:
Good: He's amazing imagininative and produces things you've never seen before
Bad: He can develop the tendency to throw odd shit at you for no reason.

Also, I have no real opinion on him but I'm just gonna say this for funniness:
M. Night Shyamalininin:
The good: started making great movies

The Bad -

Oh man, this shit is almost unwatchably fucked up.

The Good -

Oh man, this shit is almost unwatchably fucked up.
unfair, as zebraman is clearly his best film, and zebraman is about as fucked up as a stephen chow film.
which is to say not even close to "unwatchably" fucked up.

Edgar Wright.

The good: his movies are funny, unique and many are gems.

The bad: sometimes it's becomes easy to forget what the original plot is, under the haze of awesome characters and scenes.
