State of Grace by NoMeansNo.

Great flow, great build up, amazing lyrics. Enough said. Easily one of my favorite songs ever.

Here have a little Pepper, I don't know too many people that know about them & they remind me of Sublime.

I love this song simply because it's stupid & awesome & hilarious & beautiful in it's own little way. Sadly the video might be considered slightly NSFW for some people.

I suppose anime or other songs created for a specific piece might count as kind of cheating but I don't really listen to much else.

An anime whose opening song actually left me intrigued? Seriously, I've never heard anything like this, especially in any previous anime. My one friend tells me it's "glitch" not dubstep.

Also anything by LiSA. That girl has a great voice and can pace her songs perfectly, whatever you think of Sword Art Online the first opening Crossing Field is amazing.

I love this one because it's in 11/8 time.

This never happens anywhere else.

Music theory has ruined me forever.

While she's pretty big in Japan, Sheena Ringo, as well as her band Tokyo Jihen, aren't very well-known outside the country (Doesn't help that a lot of their stuff are blocked on Youtube, although you can find some of her live performances, which are amazing.) Picking only one of her songs is difficult, as she's a rather diverse artist, but I'll go with one of her Tokyo Jihen songs, which is how I got into her:

It's simple and classy. Nothing grand or bombastic, or even weird, just a sweet, groovy tune. It's sorta the band's "Another One Bites the Dust." Sheena Ringo is my favorite singer, as she has a strong, distinctive voice, and is one of the few Japanese artists who can sing very well in English. The other band members are very talented as well.

The humming and drumming at the start get me every single time. Mildly regret having it as my ringtone, though, makes me feel a bit rude at times when I purposefully delay answering.
