The gun moe invents in the simpsons where it's five guns in 1 (1 shotgun -central-, 1 assault -lower- rifle, 3 hand guns -above, left, right-)

First thought was my old vampiric broadsword from Angband. It doesn't have the bisection capabilities of the Katana of Groo but every non-fatal blow that draws blood with it is followed by a transfer of health from victim to wielder, also known as a transfer of wounds from me to the monster I just wounded. It's pretty much designed for taking on a thousand ogres in a narrow corridor.

Then I read the OP and the bit about "from your world" and my first thought is the hybrid L86/L98 with the long, heavy barrel and bipod and the manual action because the manual action has never jammed on me and the gas action always produced stoppages.

With some more thought, the silenced version of the AK74 or its 100-series Black Kalashnikov equivalent came up as a desirable alternative.

For a video-game weapon, the bizarrely inaudible .50 sniper rifle from HALO CE is tempting especially with bottomless magazine rather than infinite reloads but I think the four-barrelled nailgun from original Quake would probably be better. It didn't quite have the obliterating power of the Thunderbolt but it did well enough and it had a lot more range.

For style points, a long spear. [http://www.coldsteel-uk.com/store/Assegai.html] I'd have said quarterstaff but those things have more terrain limitations.

Are these monsters at all smart?

well im torn between the SA80A2 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SA80] or Gils Lightning Stick [http://girlgenius.wikia.com/wiki/Lightning_staff] because lightning is the same colour as electric blue and thats my favourite colour
You may want to pick an assault rifle that wont jam and seal your fate as monster food.
He did specify A2. It's a pretty big improvement on the L85A1. I specified the L98 action because we hardened farm kids can handle that thing and it's alarmingly accurate (at least until someone sits on it and bends it in the middle, after which it's at least very consistently inaccurate).

I'd like an HK417 with M203 and EoTech holosight. Nothing too special, but I think it'd work well enough.

A broadsword.

Its simple, its good, and it works. Besides, there's never that stop and reload and you can move around so your never bored. Its an artistic weapon really.
wouldn't you get tired after, like, 10 swings?

just because of the fact that with melee weapons you would get tired, i would use the land shark gun!
No, not really. A broadsword is a light weapon and its easy to wield after you get used to it. Plus, in the case like this, you let the sword carry you, so you odnt use so much energy and the sword does more of the work. Like i said, its poetic.

A double sided spear (one point on each end) with a shotgun on one end. I know it's overkill, but it's awesome.

I'll just take a Power Sword from 40K. It has a energy field around it that enables it to cut through the toughest armor with intense ease, so essentially I can just whirlwind and watch them fall in half.

Edit:

Er.. A broadsword is not a light weapon.. The point behind it is to hack, because of the heavy blade. That's how you do your damage with it.

F-2000, just because it wouldn't be too much of a pain to carry, also good fire rate, decent stopping power.

That Gunblade from a FF character I keep forgetting.

Really nice Gunblade though. Slashing and shooting at the same time, what more would you want?

If you're talking about guns that actually exist, then give me a Hispano-Suiza 20mm Cannon strapped to my arm.

Ooooh yeah :p

Don't know if it mentioned but the Nuke Bazooka comes to mind (Yes it fires a sub Kilo ton Nuke and it was tested by the US in the 60s/70s). But for obvious reasons (the fact that we can die) this is not really a good option XD.

Humm, probably 2 answers here:

Literal from this world (as in exsists): AK-47
Reason why: Swords and sharp things would be fun, but assuming we are as good as we are in RL right now, a gun would be best bet. The AK-47 survived the harsh asian jungles and would still fire fast and on target every time (even after muddy water). So it is reliable, accurate, strong and comfortable.

Not so Literal (as in it exsists in a imaganing of this work): Would have to go with the BFG from Doom 1
Reason why: Clear a room with a single shot that is non-explosive. No risk of damage to yourself or surroundings so no collapsing walls or destroyed paths and the death range is infinite so fire away and everything you see dies.
