Your life is yours alone. Rise up and live it.

It's a quote, but if I can only give one piece of advice, it would be that

He is coming, you must succeed where I failed. You must kill him or be killed. His name is J... *dies*

I would probably say something along the lines of don?t have kids look what it did to me.

"Kids, I want you to remember this very important quote from Abraham Lincoln, because it helped me in a lot of ways when I was your age: Be excellent to each other, and party on dudes!"

And then my kids would Google that quote and discover Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Mission accomplished.

EDIT: My sentence structure is bad and I should feel bad.

"Whatever you do, don't take shit too seriously, otherwise life is a hard thing to stand, what with all the injustice. Take the good like a party, and the bad like a badly told joke, laugh it off and move on."

"There's lots of people trying to sell you lots of bullshit in this world. Don't let them get you by the nose. Forge your own road."

Yeah.

Like William Blake said: "I must create a system or be enslaved by another mans. my business isn't to reason and compare; my business is to create."

Your parents have your best interest at heart, but even we can make mistakes. Be sure to challenge us on everything and ask for WHY we do what we do.

I'd tell them what I wish I could go back and tell myself: 'You're never as smart as you think you are; there will always be someone left with something to teach you and you should embrace rather than resent that fact.'

Or, if they were in a rush: 'Sometimes you have to conform to things you don't agree with, but you will never have to believe in them.'

I was once told --

"Nicola! You're eighteen now so I have to tell you something. Stilettos in town. Entry, a beer and a girl for a fiver. You can't go wrong."

I didn't have the heart to tell my brother I was not gay and the club had shut down a week before.
