yes it was awesome moral of the story "dont f**k with a Thai mans elephant, hell kick the s**t out of you"GreatTeacherCAW said:Saw the first one and loved it. The second one was pretty damn awful, so I never bothered with the third. I also really liked Where is my Elephant: The Movie
Lol, apologies! That's what I meant!GreatTeacherCAW said:Warrior King? You must mean Where is my Elephant: The Movie.DeanoTheGod said:I preferred the Warrior King to be honest! Muai Thai versus Capoeria, in water= awesome!!
Ong Bak 2 and 3 are a prequel to Ong Bak. They were going to just have the 1 film but had some issues so released the second film sooner than planned, then they did the third to finish the storyWeslebear said:I haven't seen the third unfortunately but the other two are really quite fantastic, although seemingly unrelated apart from cast and name.
Tony Jaa is an absolute beast though, thanks to those films one of my favourite martial artists in film to date.
the third is certainly the weakest of the trilogy. It's not a bad film, it has its moments of greatness just not as much as the othersj-e-f-f-e-r-s said:Ong Bak (the first one) was brilliant. As much as I love the Wuxia direction kung-fu films have taken since Crouching Tiger, Ong Bak re-introduced some grittiness to the genre, and went to great efforts to make it seem like people were actually getting the shit kicked out of them.
Ong Bak 2 is one of my favourite kung-fu films ever. The actual narrative and acting is only average (not bad, but not going to set the world on fire), though the setting is pretty cool. But the fighting is unbelievable. The fact that the entire last half hour is pretty much one extended fight scene is awesome. The fact that the fight keeps escalating and escalating makes it godly. Probably the most intense finale to a kung-fu film ever, and every aficianado of the genre needs to see it.
Ong Bak 3... bleh. This one really is the weakest of the three. The fights at the end are pretty cool, but the film takes absolutely forever to get anywhere at all. The story's pretty weird, the pacing's all over the shop, and generally it doesn't feel all that entertaining.
TLDR: First two films = genius! Last film = resounding
Only seen the first one. Plot was complete garbage of course (as your video amusingly points out) but of course it's all just an excuse for the martial arts action and some of that is indeed pretty impressive. So yeah it's good. I imagine the other two are similar.PureChaos said:who else has seen the trilogy?
