recently i downloaded Deadliest Warriors from the xbox arcade. I have a friend who really really loves that game, and he has some mad skills on it. He can beat me easily just about every time we play against each other.

But, when we play against people online, we both have similar win/loose ratios, I might even come out a little bit better.

so, explain how he can beat me so soundly, but not do any better than i do online?

Perhaps you are very predictable in his eyes. In the online world, no two opponents are alike, and skill tiers vary, so you may never know what your opponent's fighting style or strategy will be like.

Could be.

Or his internet sucks and it gets him killed more often.

Basically this, after playing a while, you start to get used to everyone's playstyle and how they act, so it would be easier to go against them and to predict their actions. Online however, you'll usually be going against random people all the time, so you won't really get used to their playstyles long enough to use it to your advantage.
