Have you ever dated someone you met online on one of the many dating sites? I was thinking of trying it out and was wondering if anyone can share some good/bad experiences they might have encountered with it.

My mum met her partner from an online dating site, so I guess there's that.

If I was extremely busy, and single, I might consider using a dating website. Otherwise, neh.

I've done it, and I'm not unattractive or lacking in the ability to find girls or anything like that, I just did it because I'm busy a lot and it's easier to put up a profile stating exactly what you want rather than messing around with games. I didn't meet my current partner on there but I did get laid a few times so I really can't knock it too much. It's worth considering, just don't expect too much and you probably won't be disappointed.

My ex's mum met her boyfriend online three years ago and now lives with him.

Yeah, for this reason I might try it out if I'm ever single and haven't got anyone I know on my mind. Screw going out to bars and whatnot on the pull, trying to figure out who's single and who's interested, that's just not me.

To be honest i've always considered it a joke thing. Its easy to knock but if you get results then it kind of stops being a joke and seems like a serious venture. Anyways the only thing i've even considered was doing the cougar dating site thing with my friends mostly as a joke and because I was in need of... something crazy to do. It was cheap enough that I would have done it except its mostly a scam, most of them are. Do some research so you don't get ripped off if you decide to do a site where you pay.

I've had limited success. The problems I have encountered are usually;
A. People are nothing like they describe themselves to be online
B. It's hard to date someone who lives far away

I myself never really did the online dating thing very seriously, but a co-worker of mine got married earlier this year, met his wife online.

I've never "dated" someone I met online, but I have been on dates with people I met on a dating site. All the dates went well. None of the guys were creepers, and they didn't seem to be too different than they described themselves nor were their photos too deceptive. I've heard it can be rough for guys on these sites because women will tend to just not respond to messages instead of politely declining. Of course, I'm on a free site. It might be a different story on a pay site.

I met my ex online, although not while actively pursuing an online relationship. Also, we didn't transition from friends to a couple until we'd actually met in person. It didn't work out in the long run for us, but it works for other people, so why not?

I went on e-Harmony once because I was bored (didn't intend to get anything from it)

...It said there was no one compatible to my personality in a 100-mile radius...

...Fml. XD

Exactly the same thing happened to me! I think it's more popular in America.

Anyway, I met my ex gf online - I guess it's easier sometimes especially if you're shy like me.
