Online friendship? I've got great online mates. But that's what they are. Online mates. Easy come, easy go. I'd count Danny_Ocean as one of my mates, Jamanticus as another.

And yet none can best my super ninja skills!

Me. Friends are more fun.

Online relationships are a different beast to RL altogether, your online personality is not who you are face-2-face.
Usually. But I know of a lot of people who are very open with me. I myself try to bring as much of my own personality to whenever online. And when actually becomming friends with someone, I shed the onlin persona. Well, I think I do? I try at least.

The internet is just a new mode for people to get connected. It'd be weird not to find people you like within.

Don't listen to our optomistic friend here, that guys a jerk, but honestly, the best online friends you know IRL.
I speak my own opinion. I am not trying to force my beliefs onto you, I merely state my opinion. You also do not know and therefore cannot call me a jerk just for one statement, you can but it is very childish. Then again I have been betrayed before by "friends" so I speak from experience.

Who needs friends when you have video games?
Dude, I'm sorry, see the above reply, I was talking about the dude in the OP. Your probably a swell guy, and I generally don't judge people I havent met.
*puts out cyber hand*
Hi I'm Stinky, Nice to meet ya
Also extends hand, I am Gof, so when you gong to betray me? Don't take personally a question I ask everyone I meet.

You meet people online. If you know them long enough, you arrange a meeting. Voila, genuine friendship is born. Ive visited a family in the US once because weve been online friends for years. We talked about perosnal things, exchanged pictures etc. But after I left, they turn back into "overseas friends" So I guess long distance friendships never turn out the same as personal friendships.

You must be lonely, then.

Friends come and go in life, even more so in an online format since there are so many more possible situations and outcomes.

This is nothing, either ask him to leave or get over it and move on.

At the moment I'm in the best clan I've ever been in on Call of Duty (The Mercenaries). They're an awesome bunch of people and we have a great laugh and there's not a single member I don't get along with. However, I doubt if I left or one of them left, anyone would break down into tears or be depressive. People move on and people come and go, especialy online. You need to get over it and stop acting like it's the end of the world.

Nah, not a jerk, I think. Angst filled perhaps, pessimistic certainly, maybe just a teenager and he'll grow out of it, or maybe life's just been particularly harsh to him. It's not angering, it's just sad.
Oh, I was referring to the guy in the OP not the guy who posted above me. Sorry.
Not a teenager, I am 21. Life has been harsh and I have become cynical from its treatment but it is who I am and I would not change it.

'Way I see it, friends are just people that stay around you, waiting specifically for you to inadvertently give them the slightest reason to jump on you and cut your throat open.

Then again, I like to amuse myself with ventures into irrational paranoia, so I don't think my statement has any merit...

Thats a good point. But can't this also occur with people you meet in person?

What Danny fails to tell you is that the reason that he's disappeared in a cloud of smoke is because he's been grabbed by a Smoker whilst trying to execute his "Super ninja skills" (AKA tripping over a Witch).

The great thing about the internet is you can have conversations with people thousands of miles away, people you may never have met otherwise.

It all really depends on how you see the situation. I have several online friends who are now real life friends. One of them I've known for six years and another for five. It's pretty awesome. There's the good and bad about online friendships. The fact that its not face to face for one but still. You never know. I'm blessed for all the friends I have. Online or otherwise.

Good and bad moments.

Unfortunately some of your friends are stupid enough to try and find out just what /b/ is, and are permanently changed into annoying dicks.

For some reason online friendship changes incredibly fast.
