I know how Blizzard could get me to play WoW, but they'll never ever do it.

1)No subscription fee. I'm always broke from bills.
2)Complete graphic overhaul. I hate the way pretty much everything looks.
3)Make the male elves look femanine. I hate buff Elves.
4)Release a single player version. I don't do group raids or PvP.
1) Its not very expensive, if you cant afford it dont play
2) I personally like the stylized cartoony look they gave WoW, its like Warcraft 3, which is good. Cept better.
3) Uh...er...dont they look gay anyway?
4) Just buy dragon age.

Well, yeah, that may be true, but still, the other 70% of WoW players *do* get past level 10. WoW may not be growing as fast as it did when WOTLK or BC came out, but it's far from dead. As a WoW player myself, though, I look forward to Cataclysm bringing in lots of new players.

It costs £9 a month, with slightly decreased costs for each package (I think it's something like £25 for 3 months?) But even so, that's a mere £108 a year.

Consider how many single player games you buy throughout a year. 2? 5? 12?

That's not even delving into how the cost per hour is better than most other games depending on how often and how much you play it (30p/hour if you only play it an hour a day and it only gets better from there.)

"So anything we can do to improve the new player experience is a huge opportunity for us."

They can start by declaring TBC and WotLK non-cannon and re-release WoW with a slight graphical update.
What's wrong with the stories offered by TBC/WotLK?

Well, except for that lolEredar retcon.

Actually, I only buy games on gift-giving holidays or I do chores for lazy friends & make them pay me. I am not an employed-type person. & £108 is like $216, which is food & bills money.

& I was thinking more like this:

probably cause you get like 2 buttons to play with, with a trial account you can't see half the features of WoW and you get one shotted by squirrels at the start. Most people just think "Fuck this" and goes to play something else.
Actually, IIRC, critters like squirrels or rams can't deal damage to you no matter what your level.

The 70% could be cheap bastards (like myself) and just simply replay the free trial version over and over again. I'd say over half of those who played the trial did so at least two times.

But...level 10 takes like three hours to get to. If that. That's probably slow actually.

Jeebus ;/

Cataclysm will give them a jump in numbers. Completely revitalising the Azeroth will likely bring back old customers *coughlikemecough* as well.
3 hours I get to 10 on a new character in, "Uhhh, be right back" *30 minutes later* Yeah that long.

Could be that they're spending a long time trying to understand the interface. WoW isn't Pacman; its not self explanatory. I've seen screenshots that made flight simulators looks simple.

I can never get to level 20! I always loose interest or screw up the character somehow (Like getting stuck in a level 60 area at level 12!), my newest character, Gibjohv (Draenai Pally, and I haven't played the game in a while, though I really want to!) is actually pretty interesting and I am gonna try to make him to 85! Anyways, this may be a sign of WoW's decay, though Catacylism will definantly boost the numbers up. WoW should end with an epic battle against the Black Dragon, and it should basically end there... So they can make a WC4!

So... Who's up for Star Wars: The Old Republic?

I'm still worried about that game.
I'd love to play a good Star Wars MMO. In fact, I'd love to play any MMO that wasn't fantasy based. (Eve doesn't count, it isn't a game, its a second job)
City of Heroes/Villains and Champions online get dull quick and don't have a lot of depth.
I'm worried SW:TOR will turn out just like Champions.

I went to 70, put down the mouse, said "Done" outloud, and went out and got myself a girlfriend.

I'm been saying it for years, have an orgy of night elves ready to pleasure your character once you reach the legal level of 18. By then they'll be having so much fun wit the they forget about the 72 virgins AI.

I made it to level 13 during the trial. It was just a complete and utter grind that entire time, I kept leveling thinking that something cool would happen at least after level 10, but it was just more of the same, just different critters to kill. I don't know why people like to play mmo's, but whatever floats ya boat.

I imagine you would be upbeat about the future if you were sitting on a pile of money that could drown lithuania irrespective of whether or not your game keeps going for a decade or implodes next Tuesday. Games wax and wane, Blizzard has it's next two huge titles on the horizon already, the circle of popularity continues.
