Summer Slaughter Festival This last tuesday- Didnt learn their names either. But it was a bunch of young skinny teenage boys makeing noise into the mic and playing simple riffs. Worst part they tried to get the crowd into them when not one person was moving giving the horns if it wasnt for them it would be so silent you could hear a bug fart.

Yeah, those opening guys for the Atlanta show were terrible...

However, when I saw Mastodon last November, High on Fire opened. Best opening band ever.
Vital remains was good as fuck but those kids...... kids... and you mean the dethklok tour with mastodon high on fire and converge?

That's the one! And I'm pretty sure those kids were some local band who somehow stumbled onto the wrong stage. It's the only logical explanation.

Yeah i ran into the bassit in the pit *the blonde haired fag* and slammed his ass as hard as i could. That and who goes into a pit wearing a baseball foam finger with devil horns on it...

I too, saw this tour. There is no better answer.

Also, I shall soon be seeing The Academy Is... open for Kiss.

Don't ask me how the fuck that happened, but I'll probably be leaving before Kiss plays, as I don't really care for them.

I actually enjoyed the support slot more than the headline.

I've only been to two concerts before, Lights and Nightwish.

The opening bands were split for me. Lights' opening band was quite good, while Nightwish's was not.

Lights had Jets Overhead open, and I actually liked them.

Nightwish had Sonic Syndicate open. They were awful. I just wanted them to leave the stage.
Never seen Lights, but I want too. Sonic Syndicate does not deserve to tour with Nightwish. Probably because I don't know who they are.

Sonata Arctica did a wonderful job opening for Nightwish. The only problem was Tajra wasn't with the band anymore...

Hell I've gone to see the opening band- Eisley, Tegan & Sara (who are freakin' opening for Paramore *vomits*), The Dresden Dolls (though all these bands have been headliners too)
I really enjoyed Vedera and Miniature Tigers when they opened for bands I went to see. I've heard several good openers.
Damn no idea who those people r but that just sounds like shit
Wow, thanks for that insight. So glad to read your stirring contribution.

I once saw Trivium and didn't like them, so I decided I'd never see them again. Then they opened for Iron Maiden. That annoyed the hell out of me.

I've never been to a gig just to see the support band, but if i liked them enough I suppose I would.

I've never been to an actual concert, only multi-day festivals.

The very first festival I went to was all metal. The opening act for day 2 was called The Gascap Bandits. A group of whiny teenagers playing very sloppily and screeching out "vocals". Worst way to wake up. Ugh.(The festival was in a field in the middle of nowhere so everyone camped out there and slept in their cars or tents. Some people slept right next to the stages.)

Gnarls Barlkey opened for RHCP, and they opened with a cover of the Pink Floyd's "the Wall". That was pretty damn good. Also saw Drowning Pool open for Saliva which was good but I didn't like them as much. A friend of mine saw Weezer open for Foo Fighters, I'm so damn jealous of him.

I saw Jimmy Eat World open for Green Day a few years back. Poor guys got booed offstage.

The most recent concerts I went to had two very different opening acts...

Brendan Patton and YTCracker opened for MC Frontalot, and YT is just the sweetest guy. Crazy mofo, but he was a dear.

Sage Francis had Free Moral Agents and B. Dolan opening for him. Dolan was pretty good but the girl from FMA kept dancing around and looking like an idiot. I wanted to throw something at her to get her to stand still.

Biffy Clyro opened for Linkin Park, and though I love their music, they are terrible live.
Two bands opened for a Fall Out Boy concert I went two, or I think FOB were sharing the gig with one of them, but people were mainly their for FOB. You Me At Six was one of them, they were fantastic live.
Don't remember the other band though.
The Devil Wears Prada opened for Enter Shikari, and though good, their metal all sounded too similiar live to be enjoyable.

Haha you metal kids are crazy!

When I saw The Living End last year they had two opening acts - One of them was pretty shit, the other was rad.

But hey.. You gotta start somewhere.
