Well I just finished the DLC and I have to say im impressed a story that's interesting, very dark in places, as well as having comedic moments and a great new companion. I was actually surprised how long the DLC was story wise, i really expected 3 really short quests.
building robots and altering them is actually fun and enjoyable.
I was so relieved and loved that they added new silver shroud lines.
so what are peoples opinions?
was it value for money?
what are your favourite robots you made?
I'd have an opinion if the dang Playstation Store would let me download it!
I'm not particularly interested in the story, I'm more interested in seeing one of my favorite enemies return. The Robo-brain! They are in, right? They aren't just parts for your robot friend?

On a more serious note though, still not many puzzles. I'm noticing more and more that Fallout 4 has hardly any puzzles at all! Puzzles are a massive part of most RPG's, especially in dungeon crawling. I know this DLC is meaty but is actually kind of relatively small, but people who are willing to fork over cash for a DLC surely won't be averse a puzzle or two.
I know, I know, this DLC is more about Battle Bots than dungeons, but still.

I was able to download it in the later hours of yesterday, and I have to say I'm kind of disheartened by how short it seems to be. Shoot a few robots. Shoot some better robots (Robobrains.) Use Ada for all story critical robot enhancements or feel like an ass, and loot some new stuff from a marginally different Raider faction.
Not bad when it comes to gameplay content, but I was hoping for something a little more substantial in the story department. Maybe I'm just too used to story DLC that has actual length to its story, but between this and Arkham City's 'character episodes,' I'm feeling kind of burnt out on DLC that claims to do anything but add to gameplay alone.
I liked the length of the last "dungeon", it felt suitably long for a high level character and was set in an interesting location which I felt they actually utilized pretty well (and was well designed to boot). The robot customization options are fun if somewhat shallow and I find myself wanting to make more robots just to see what kind of weird combinations I can come up with.
The story was decent if nothing to write home about, just like most of the gear they added. The electrical gun is fun but somewhat underwhelming, the Tesla Power Armor is nice and the new melee weapons are flavorful but in all it feels like very little gear was added, especially for people who use pistols or prefer conventional firearms to energy weapons and for those that want more clothes and armors.
I was about a 3rd of the way through the DLC, and I was hearing more of the Mechanist's radio propaganda, when I thought to myself "Huh, some of the words sound almost a bit like it's the (voiced-morphed) voice of a (really butch?) woman and not a man."
Fastforward to the end where the Mechanist takes his helmet off and... TA DA!
Sorry Bethesda, you're gonna have to do better than that to get me with your twists. (I guessed the whole adult-Shaun thing too from the main questline LONG before it was properly revealed, although that guess wasn't exactly hard.)
Anyway, the whole 'killing humans in order to save them' trope is a massively-overdone trope in sci-fi, and it's not always well received (helloooo Mass Effect 3!), so the trope should probably be retired at this point.
I liked the DLC, the questline was far longer than I expected it to be, we got 4 new weapons, a new enemy type, a new companion, whole bunch of customizable robots, T-60 tesla armor, the Mechanist armor, and the new robot armor set. I think it was worth the money, especially with the season pass.
Was okay, though when you've got a massively leveled character and a veritable mountain of scrap, it took me like five minutes or extra scavenging to upgrade my robo-companion to have the best of everything. x3
...I will add that one fantastic touch was that there's alternate dialogue from the Mechanist during the final confrontation if you're wearing the Silver Shroud outfit without any Power Armor. AND THERE ARE SILVER SHROUD DIALOGUE OPTIONS SQUEE!

For full price, I think it really depends on how much you get out of having a customizable robot companion. The missions were alright, at lvl 77 I was expecting for them to be a pushover, but was pleasantly surprised, especially the last mission. If you don't care about robots (which you may need a lot of perks you didn't get to use, especially modding - or just salvaging), then probably not worth it. Season pass though, with potential to continue using the robots, definitely worth it.
If you play through it as the Silver Shroud, the whole
"good person makes robots that use their logic to kill people"
makes way more sense, in that pulp-comic type way.
It felt a little silly that once you beat the Mechanist
you get all of the robot recipes, but better than searching forever to complete the robot sets. I do like that you can use her lair though. Did anyone try to send a settler there to supply chain it to the other settlements?
.
I really like making robots though . I gave Ada a more distinguishable color, the factory armor, and the ability to hover. She was decent in battle but fell too fast to help much during the DLC, at least at my level, which spawned up to lvl 40-ish robots. She did carry a lot of weight though .
Afterward, I made an attack-bot with a rotary saw on one hand, the tesla arc gun in the other, assaultron legs for speed, the laser blasting assaultron head, and the best armor with lots of +melee and +energy damage. Will want to test him against +30 level enemies, but he is a beast so far against what I have tested. Electric arcs and decapitating saw blades while charging the head laser, then vaporizing raiders with it .
Has anyone tried the "breakable" pieces? How "breakable" are they?
