The title says it all.
What is your opinion of the cartoon Happy Tree Friends?
When ever I bring up a conversation about the show with friends, I almost always get the same kind of reply ranging from creepy, disturbing or hilarious.
Annoyed by all the same responses, I thought I would bring the subject to the Escapist.
I personally love the show for its dark sense of humour and appreciate the originality of it.
To add more discussion value to the thread, you can name your favourite character or your reaction to the first episode you saw.
On another note, why haven't Peta went cannibalistic at its creators yet?

I think it's just bloody funny. Me and my friend once stayed up until 4am to watch it on TV; and he went to france on a school trip and they played it on the TVs in a French Toys 'R' Us

I've seen a few episodes on G4 and I thought they were hilarious.

Never really had a favorite character, I just love how all of them die in gruesome ways.

I watched about 3 or 4 episodes, it's hilarious.

I'm a big fan of dark humour. Cartoon violence's also great.

It's been a few months since I've seen one last time, but that guy who goes crazy every once in a while is awesome. I forget his name. He basically goes crazy and murders everyone, there was a whole episode about that.

Not my tastes... but I really ain't into cartoons/anime in the first place and putting a lot of blood in it doesn't change that.

Happy Tree Friends was one of the staples of my viewing both online and on TV during High School. How big was it [in my high school]? I could bring up a horrible visual involving a Moose, A spoon and a Tree, and the one girl who I thought didn't watch that kind of stuff actually knew what I was talking about. Extra two points because we both laughed about it.

To watch it now, it partially fulfills the odd masochist in me who laughs the same way the Joker does when being hit by Batman, and yet, it makes me cringe almost to the point of fainting (which is sad when fainting while watching violent displays only get as far as Happy Tree Friends and the entire 2nd half of the movie "Antichrist")

But I don't watch it religiously; the problem with most everything in the world (Except The Electric Light Orchestra, IMO) is that eventually, you get desensitized to it real quick, so I watch it so rarily.

I really enjoyed it, then they stopped making new ones for a while and I just left it.

I find it kind of disturbing, it's usually just mutilation of other creatures, nothing I find particularly funny.

Its funny. Not hilarious but funny. I do find the odd sketch more disturbing than funny though.

I just recently rediscovered the show, after I stopped watching for the same reason as you did. The episodes now are longer, more elaborate, and the deaths take a little longer to happen, but it's still bloody and funny.

And Lumpy is now officially the star of the show. Which is fine by me.

It was funny when I was little.

It got old very quickly, and I can't even imagine why I liked it other than being immature. Its not funny, its just bloody and pointless.

Some episodes, however, still have lots of charm. Like the Lemonade one.
