The other semi-rant I have, is with people not giving money to homeless people.
Why do people not give money to homeless people?!?
I'll tell you the reason: Because there are a lot of charities out there who look after the homeless and when you give to them, you know it's going toward things that will help; food, shelter, clothing... Whereas if you give directly to the homeless you really don't. There are lots of drunks/druggies... And giving them money will just prolong a unsustainable lifestyle.

In England very very few have a true reason to be out of on the streets. Being on the street and living off begging is unsustaible, it's not dealing with the root problem; why they are there in the first place.

The big issue is on the other hand a good idea.

To be honest, I'm sick of giving money to "homeless" or "needy" people around where I live because all of the ones I have given money to walk straight to the pub, right in front of me.
I just say I've already given money today.

As for hitch hiking.... I don't own a vehicle.

.....well, I think one of the reasons that you are a bit more empathetic to their situation is because you aren't a chrisitaian...
...I'm Christian and I give the first 10% of the money I earn to charity (include homeless shelters).
Thank-you for lumping us all in the one category.
I applaud you, and I wish more of your fellow Christians were like you. I don't mean to lump you in with hypocrits, either; I should have put the disclaimer in of "Christains I have met and know in real life" in front of that appelation.
