I'm doing a project at college at the moment on mapping, and thought it would be cool to map peoples opinions on the UK... So any opinions or thoughts or memories or anything that you associate with a place in the UK, if you could post that here that would be great

It can be literally anything, anything that comes to mind, about any place in the UK.

Depression was born here, seriously, it is over cast most of the time and almost every city (I have seen anyway) is gray, it's so depressing.

Bill Bailey describes us as "just a bunch of stoned, illiterate, wheezing, shagging, lardy bastards" ... so there you go.

Cheers guys =) And it doesn't have to be serious (it can be, doesn't matter either way) - it's for an art project, the main inspiration being the maps on this page:

Its pretty difficult to give an opinion on the UK I find, its saying "what is your opinion on the politics, culture and history of one of the most diverse and dense countries in the world?"

Saying that... I'd say its pretty good. I'm very grateful that I have spent the majority of my life in London, however, I'm currently in university in Leeds and wouldn't change that for the world either.

I tend to see most English people as arrogant narcissistic pricks, that still can't get over the fact that they fucked up and lost their world empire. To their chagrin the USA took over where they left off at world hegemony and they're irate about it. Which then in turn leads them (the English) to horde websites across the internet and proclaim how they know all and are right about everything.
Your attitude shows that you may be just as arrogant as you think English people are.

It's funny because he was asking for opinions on the UK, not England.
And also because you cooked up this grand scheme and it's actually easier to just go "a lot of people in every country are fuck-heads", mostly because claiming just one area of the world is full of fuck-heads is wishful thinking.

Anyway, back on topic:
It rains quite a bit, but I'm not a pussy so I don't mind.
It's a nice place to live, aside from the self-defence laws.

This applies to every country if you're not a resident of said country.

The Welsh eat people.

Also, I proclaim that America has the most fuckheads (proportionate to population, of course), because they elected Bush.

Google Bushisms. Do it. If you're not American, you'll laugh. If you are, you may cry.

You realise we conceded most of our empire to the country's rightful owners by choice?

It can be okay, like when it's sunny all day and there's like 100 people relaxing in the city gardens by the fountains, it reminds of somewhere that isn't Britain, but those kinda days don't happen very often. For the most part it's dull, inconsistently cold and full of wankers. Obviously there are nice, interesting people, but you'll more often than not walk past some prick with his hood up, walking like he's got a dick up his ass, spitting every 10 feet with his hands down his pants, and they have them disgusting "eaaarrhh maayteee" accents that they put on.

I can't speak for the entirety of Britain but it's certainly like that where I live, I wanna move to Australia or something.

The majority of Norfolk is proof of the fact that we need a return to natural selection (I can get out of this by living in Cambridge on a technicality. it still counts).

Good to see that it's still traditional for someone to formulate a measured and proper opinion about 51 million people based on meeting a handful of said 51 million on the internet. Good show my lad! /sarcasm, lots and lots of sarcasm.

Anyway, if you want the humerous description of Britain and British people, the above Bill Bailey video sums it up nicely.

But on a more serious note (and to help further contradict Aur0ra145), I take pride in the fact that we willingly gave up the Empire (for the most part) in favour of improving our domestic lot, setting up the NHS, national insurance etc. While the Empire is something we can be both proud and shameful of given that it was hit and (severely) miss around the world, things like the NHS (in my mind) are something to be truly proud of *gush*.
