I don't get people who are vehemently opposed to the idea of women being able to show their breasts in public. Like really, if I took a close-cropped image of a fat man's man-boob, it would look identical to the average woman's tit. I's not like the fetishization of breasts is unusual in this day and age--I think it's safe to say the larger-than-life posters you see inside and out of a Victoria's Secret store is a lot more racy and sexually-charged than just a woman with her shirt off. The idea that it's "inappropriate for children" is laughable given that the reason they exist is for the benefit of children.

They aren't any more inherently sexual than a man's breasts. A child isn't going to look at a woman's bare breasts and think, "What, penis goes into vagina? What a discovery!"

Personally I don't understand how people view drug taking as morally bad.
I think that, so allow me to explain:
Because it's downright inresponsible behaviour, and drug users burden society massively through crime both directly and indirectly related, as well as healthcare expenses.

That's for instance why drug users tend to deny the inherent risks of drugs (for instance the pothead lobby denying marijuana causes schizofrenia), because otherwise it means they're risking becoming a massive burden, just to get high, and that's extremely selfish and therefore immoral.

When I'm working my arse off for little more than a minimum wage, it just strikes me as downright obscene when someone comes in to complains for hours that his social security benefits is already used up and he still needs to purchase more weed, and that he needs to remain clean in order to get free housing, while I pay a skyrocketing rent for a single room appartment, just before picking up a medication subscription for more pills a week than my entire family pops in a year.

Really, working in a drug user aid centre is truly enlightening about these things.
Oh, I understand that, I should have elaborated. Excessive drug use, yes, I see the problems with. The same as excessive alcoholism or eating. I'm not condoning guys who don't work and spend all their benefits on getting stoned all the time, I'm asking what's wrong with say, the guy that has a couple of spliffs with his mates on a Friday night.

I still don't get why would anybody like, let alone become a fan, of MLP. No, please don't try to explain to me why it's so good. I've had every brony in this site try that. You can try do that if you feel you MUST but I still don't get it. I just laugh really, really hard at the names of things and can't get over the fact it's a franchise built entirely and exclusively around cuteness. I swear, it's the same as if the Teletubbies became a big thing overnight.

Anti-marriage equality. It just doesn't make any sense. If you're the most hardcore religious nut in the world, and your government says "Yo ok same-sex marriage is totally cool," how does that affect you? If you think marriage is a religious thing, government paper pushers' definition of marriage shouldn't matter: your church's definition of marriage should. If you think others around you are *~*~living in sin*~*~, shouldn't you (as the most hardcore religious nut in the world) try to convert them to see the light of Jesus/Allah/whoever rather than fight with legislators and judges? And if the "sinners" won't "repent," who gives a fuck? You and yours are still going to Heaven (or so you believe.) It's not like God's gonna be pissed at you for what other people are doing.

Seriously, marriage equality doesn't affect anyone in any way except for those who want to marry their same-sex partners. The only justifications I can think of are "ew gays are icky" or "I hate gays and want them to be unhappy" and those are such stupid fucking notions that it boggles my mind how anyone could hold them. Like, I can understand the anti-choice and the creationist crowd--I think their conclusions are stupid, but I can see how they arrived at them. But with the anti-marriage equality people... I just don't get it. There is no logic, neither secular nor theological, that explains their drivel.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR LIGHTING A FIRE UNDER MY EGO, OP. IS THAT GOOD ENOUGH?

I don't get the issue with not getting opinions. I seriously don't. If an opinion bothers you so much, just don't answer to it. Solves a lot of issues.

The stark refusal not to accept "x" due to "y", where "y" isn't something that one can define as a "concrete evil".
You don't have to embrace "x", and you are free to be put off by "y"...however, you should understand those who hold a different view and not view them as lesser because of it.

In simpler terms, a live and let live thing.
It amazes me how simple a concept it is on paper, but apparently something hard to pull off in practice.
Applies to a plethora of different things, hence the usage of variable placeholders.

Are those involved dead or harming others?
Are you going to be dead or harmed by these others?
If no to the above, don't be an asshole.

...Huh, it's amazing how growing up in a close-minded environment made me an open minded individual.

Not really sure if this is an "opinion" or not, probably not, but I never understood the logic behind "this works for me, so it must work for everyone!". A guy I work with is like that with pushing us to read textbooks and study, while reading them does nothing for me since I'm horrible with reading and don't retain anything unless I actually use it. But since it works for him, I just have to make myself not suck at reading somehow.

wow...this thread will end well

the only one that I can say honestly is being anti gay

aside from religious reasons you honestly have NOTHING to back it up

I don't understand why anyone would bother to be homophobic. It's such a waste of energy. Charlie Brooker [http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/apr/15/charlie-brooker-gay-video-game] summed it up pretty well.

It must be awful, being a homophobe. Having to spend all that time obsessing about what gay people might be doing with their genitals. Seeing it in your mind, over and over again, in high-definition close-up. Bravely you masturbate, to make the pictures go away, but to no avail. They're seared onto your mental membranes. Every time you close your eyes, an imaginary gay man's imaginary penis rises from the murk, bowing ominously in your direction, sensing your discomfort. Laughing. Mocking. Possibly even winking. How dare they, this man and his penis? How dare they do this to you?

Obviously you can't fight the big gay penis in your head. It has no physical form, so you can't get a grip on it, much as you'd like to. You'd love to grab it and throttle it until it splutters its last. That might bring you closure. But no. So you do the next best thing. You condemn homosexuals in the real world. Maybe if they could just stop all this "being gay" business for 10 minutes, you'd get some respite from that scary headcock. It might shrivel away completely, leaving nothing behind. Except maybe a nice bit of bum.

No, dammit! Forget I said that! No bum either!
oh dear god...thats GOLD! XD....

You'd be stunned at the amount of those that end up in our centre. ^_^
Sometimes I joke that we only cater to recreational users, since it's THE most heard excuse; "I only use recreationally",".
how is that even an "excuse"? isnt that like...the MAIN reason drugs are problematic?...if you use them recreationally..how else do you use them, legitimatly for illness? I'm not seeing the logic

That making food spicy somehow improves it.
It really doesn't, it just gives your tounge pain.
I mean, unless it's just to cover up a bad taste, what's the point?
Some people like the 'pain', it gives the food a kick which compliments certain flavors. Plus it makes you feel manly to eat food other people wouldn't touch. Also, I'm pretty sure capsaicin releases endorphins that give you a mild high.

But whatever, enjoy your milk and cookies.

I really, really don't understand how people can assume smoking weed is healthy. Listen, before any stoners come up to defend the plant (hell, I used to smoke it years ago, and I utilized it for medicinal reasons!), I know all about the health effects and benefits of marijuana. What I'm talking about though is the people who honestly think smoking it is actually "healthy" for you. Watch this clip of Montel Williams defending the health of smoking marijuana:

Skip to about 1:15 when the woman says "We can't accept the smoking of a medicine. It's a non-starter for us."

If you want to smoke marijuana, that's totally fine. I used to do it, and so did plenty of other people. But for the love of god, do not come around saying that smoking it is good for your health. You can easily ingest marijuana (albeit it can take a little longer to be absorbed, but the effects can also last longer) if you're worried about the health aspects. If you want to smoke, then smoke. Just don't go around saying that inhaling smoke is good for your health. You'll only look like an idiot.

[sub][sub]Inb4ing is super lame. Seriously.[/sub][/sub]
Actually as someone who's been eating spicy foods for the past 18 years (I've been eating hot peppers since I was 2 years old; I am currently 20), I can easily tell you that peppers DO have flavors behind them that can improve the taste of the food. Secondly, the heat itself can add to the food as well. It might seem unusual, but our tongues are very sophisticated. Just as [thermal] heat can drastically change the quality, so can the burning heat released from capsaicin.

Also, as another commentator stated, capsaicin can release endorphins which release a small high for those of us who eat spicy foods regularly. This high for some of us is actually pleasurable.

In short, it's not simply to cover up some sort of bad taste; it really can add to the dish. However, you need to know what peppers will work best for your dish, and what peppers you can tolerate. Even for someone with an iron tongue like myself, some peppers are too hot that they can completely saturate the flavor. The right balance of heat and taste however will increase the quality of a dish for some, however.

what kind of drugs? I can see (and have hte opinion of) if youre not hurting anyone (including yourself) in the production/transportation/use/aftermath of then I dont see why not. I dont agree with someone doing crack or meth, but something more minor or even acid I dont see much the problem with.

or did yuo mean medical?

EDIT: I guess I should make something OT. I dont get the opinion of why pc gaming is so great. I've always found the layout and feeling of a controller in my hands more comfortable or understood why you need to play a game where it specifically needs a keyborad so each action has a key.

... whooo, Im about to get my quote box filled. So I guess I should say Im not saying PC gaming is bad, im not saying consoles ar ebetter (nor am I saying PC is). Just I dont get why its so great that everyone should have to like or be looked down on.

more guns = less crime (wtf?)
Well this opinion isn't that hard to believe, just the facts are a bit skewed.

But really the issue should be more along the lines of concealed carry = less crime, not more guns = less crime. That's just idiotic for whoever believes it.

When it comes to concealed carry, it'll make would-be attackers less likely to strike due to the fear that you may have a firearm on you. Doesn't mean it'll always work, but that's kind of the logic behind it.

I don't understand why certain trends are regional. Some of them are obvious of course (I don't see tanning catching on in Kansas any time soon) but what I'm talking about here is about food. You can get sushi anywhere sure but, why is it that only (and correct me if I'm wrong) Germans admit to liking mayonnaise with their fries instead of ketchup? Or Pizza: why is it so difficult to find Chicago-style deep dish on the East coast? Is it hard to find NY-Style thin crust in Chicago?
