Now, I did check the search bar for this, because I'm surprised nobody has reported it here yet... but then again the site does seem to be a tad bit broken right now, at least for me (not unusably so... news articles not updating, message notification broken, that sort of stuff), so it might be that its already been reported but I haven't been able to see it.

So, anyways, it turns out that the latest education of the Official PlayStation Magazine has come out and said that a new TimeSplitters game will be announced shortly by Crytek UK, formerly Free Radical (who was saved after a, er, certain 'unfortunate' game, the name of which shall not be mentioned here).

Now, I don't know about you guys/gals, but personally I would quite happily sacrifice a puppy to see this game be released. Possibly even a pony. Still, considering the mounting number of rumours about this game, I'm hoping that such drastic measures won't be necessary. Anybody else curious and excited about this predicament?

I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope this is true. I LOVE Timesplitters, although mainly for the awesome mapmaker function, although the game itself is still amazing. If this is true, I will not only pre-order it as soon as physically possible, but probably have a nerdgasm as well.

I'll only buy it if it keeps up it's reputation as the "fastest FPS ever"

I still remember Timesplitters 2 being so fast paced it was almost like Cocaine to play with your friends. Even Future Perfect was much faster then Halo and kept the same atmosphere.

Also if it lacks a mapmaker it's a definite non-purchase for me. The best part about Future Perfect was designing maps with your friends. Hopefully Crytek doesn't drag Free Radical's masterpiece through the mud like some other developers tend to do. I can live without 150+ unlockable characters. But no mapmaker removes any interest I have in purchase.

If it's anything like TS2 I'll probably find myself having to get it. My favourite shooter on the Xbox. So frantic and so much fun.

Future perfect was worth a few rents for some multiplayer sessions too.

I hope this is true but Playstation 4? C'mon don't torture me like this, I don't even have a playstation 2 much less a non existent 4. Also I'm not sure if my PS1 counts since it doesn't work anymore.

I'm afraid I must disagree, the vast plethora of characters, weapons, game modes and maps, the amount of which hasn't been beaten by any modern FPS since TS2, is one of the key features in the series... imagine if all those imaginative game types were brought into the modern online gaming arena? It would be spectacular!

Yeah, I'm kinda sceptical of this... considering developers likely don't even have the PS4/Xbox 720 to play around with, and the fact that the PS3/360 still have quite a lot of life left in them, I'm pretty sure it'll be a current-gen console game rather than next-gen.

And I fully agree, it would be amazing. But thinking realistically I don't foresee another developer translating everything from the previous games to next gen. I am currently thinking of the bare minimum for me to get excited over it at the moment.

I agree with some of the people here: if there's no mapmaker, I want nothing to do with this. Hell, I'd love to have an even more detailed Mapmaker than before! And give me the option to use up as much memory as I have available for my maps...I'm sure not everyone wants to fight in a city, but for my friends and I, we'd love to have a semi-replica of our hometown to pwn face in....

I'd be okay with no mapmaker.
I'd be okay with less than 150 characters.
But if they remove either Cortez or Split-screen, fuck life.

Split screen is definitely important. I'm sick and tired of EVERYTHING being forced onto online play nowadays. Sure, it generates more money because EVERYONE who wants to play has to have a system and internet and a game, but it's really f**king stupid.

Also split-screen multiplayer with bots. That's what made Timesplitters so much damn fun as well.

It's something that a lot of people are dismissing as unrealistic for some reason, but we're way overdue for the next console generation so I can't really understand why. Modern PC hardware is more than ten times as powerful as current consoles, and it's really holding the industry back. In terms of not only graphics, but overall game design.
People are dismissing it because Microsoft just released Kinect last year, which they say is to extend the 360's life-span by 4-5 more years. There's also the fact that if they were to announce it at the next E3, it'd make sense to announce the next set of Halo games for it, to build hype and whatnot. Since they just announced Halo 4 for the 360 two months ago, I'd doubt that they'd announce a new console while that game is still in development. They'll probably announce the new console, and Halo 5, after 4 is released.

That'd make the most sense, at least.

I don't foresee Crytek being stupid enough not to put Split Screen multiplayer. Unless they want the game to bomb that badly.

I doubt anyone would buy it if it didn't have split screen.
