Yeah that guy was a dick from what I have heard though rampage was not supposed to do that much damage its actually a bug in the game but yeah if he starts spamming it unless you are one lucky sob or are massively over leveled you are dead. I beat him with the pray he never uses rampage strategy took a few tries but none of his other attacks hurt much. The Wykydtron said:Ehhhh, they're alright I guess. I would never bother to beat all of them unless they're somehow super interesting and as fun as the proper bosses.
They are usually damn hard as well. That Contrarian King in Persona 4 man... You beat the first proper boss! You've done this dungeon before! You got this man!
"LOL RAMPAGE!"
*entire party killed from one attack*
"Fuck."
It's the game telling you that it ain't pulling no punches from here on son.
As for optional bosses sometimes I like them especially in RPGs my favourite would be the classic Emerald and Ruby weapon I used to think they were tough but now I just mess around see how many different ways I can kill them. In most FF games I tend to defeat the optional bosses my (other) favourites were probably the dark aeons defeating all those without using Yojimbo took me a while.
Other times optional bosses can just go f**k themselves such as Unlimited Mars mode in Blazblue not sure they count as bosses being just supercharged ordinary characters with slightly different movesets but they are annoying as hell all the same and from what I can tell its the same from Score attack mode in P4A and whats worse they lock features behind beating them not cool arc not cool.
I remember some of the bosses in Star Ocean 3 being pretty ridiculous I defeated all in the arena but there were ones beyond that and holy god it got stupidly hard still I appreciate there was further challenge if I wanted it.
