It has been a while since had as much FUN as I did playing this game last night, running around laying traps and plinking off headshots with my cross bow while my hero quips random one liners just had me enjoying the whole thing with a big grin on my face.

The humour is decently done and sets the tone for the game, the graphics fit in well with this and the animations are smooth and everything flows well.
There is enough of a challenge to make things interesting without being frustrating so far and I can definatly see some high score wars breaking out on the leader boards.

The only thing that would make this game better is co-op and I really do hope OMD is successful enough for Robot Entertainment to continue support and developemnt for it.

The name is in the topic title. "Orcs Must Die!"

Yes, I've been meaning to pick up this game, it looks like a blast. However there's just TOO MANY DAMN GAMES right now! It's ridiculous. Although I guess this time of year is the same always in terms of new games coming out.

I thought the exact same, until i realised it was actually "Orcs must die"
Maybe OP should make that more clear, however it does look quite interesting!

Agreed co-op! Would love to bash orc brains with a friend that and a short video whenever you get a new trap/weapon, all of the things you get aren't obvious how they work.

The one line that always makes me giggle is when he goes "Winning!", that and the victory dance.

I agree, I played it yesterday and having fun with it. Crossbow and wind belt is nice combo, using wind-belt with acid trap or just pushing them back on re-armed traps. ^^

Only thing is as you mentioned, coop, because it really looks like it would be a good coop game.

Indeed.
Lovely game.
I'm currently at Chokepoint.
I like the Tower defence + third person shooter/hack 'n slash thing it's got going on.
And how I love those arrow walls.

It's the only game I've bought from xbla, and it's some of the most fun I've had with a game in recent memory. I'd like to hear what Yahtzee thinks of it.

I can't figure out what use steam traps have though.

A tool for custom maps would be awesome too. There are many talented mapmakers out there and OMD has the potential for this.
Ya, coop and map making....if they update the game with that....I'd prolly make acid trap maps though xD

Spring-boards + orcs + acid or wind belt + orcs + acid = me with happy face. ^_^

I played the demo when it came out a week or so ago. It was a surprising amount of fun and it looked like there would be enough new and interesting traps to keep my interest. Unfortunately for them, I have too many games already. I expect that I'll pick it up eventually though after the new releases cool down.

I think co-op might make the game too easy, though. Unless they take the Sanctum approach of way bigger waves. Or split the money. I'd probably still play the entire game solo to get 5 skulls everywhere first.

Personally, I was convinced by the demo. When I heard about the game a few months before release, I was bored by the trailers and dismissed it immediately. I decided to try the demo, because "it's free" and "why not?" and actually really enjoyed it. It reminds me of that PS2 game Trapt (anybody?), which I also really enjoyed.

The game is awesome. It looks ok when you see it, but when you start playing it it just sort of comes together. The traps, the combat and the humor all "click" into a cohesive whole. I like how they managed to make the player character powerful but still make traps needed. You can't defend with traps alone, but you also can't fight everything by yourself, you need a good combination.

The only "bad" thing is that some of the traps are just not that good. Or to be more precise, Tar Traps and Arrow Wall Traps are too effective. Also, Archers on maps with good ledges. On the other hand, Decoys and Explosive Barrels are just a waste of money, while Spring and Crush traps take too long to reload for their effect. It's to be expected, though, since the game does aim for variety. Persistent upgrades, variety of traps and champions, talent trees, etc.

And a very special mention goes to the protagonist, who's a moron douchebag and hillarious all the while. Even his old teacher hated his guts...
