A graphic novel by Daniel Clowes, writer of Ghost World (among others) that closely mirrors my own life* and I happen to share my first name with.

*Not really.

I use some different usernames which i usually derive from other words spelled backwards and then changed a little.

for example my current username: Thnelis is simply silent spelled backwards with an added h for extra coolness :)

There's also Tsylak which I deriverd from the word apocalyps (leave out apo, spell backwards, switch c for k and change sp into ts)

And one of my personal favorites Senq'rath (or just Senqrath not all usernames allow apostrophes): It's basically darkness spelled backwards with some changed letters.
That last one sounds kinda star-wars-y doesn't it, I like it :-D

In year 9 in graphics I had a picture of a mountain range and turned it upside down, coining the phrase Inverse Skies in the process. I've used it ever since.

I came up with my online name when my LAN group decided we all needed code names for Battlefield 1942. The other guys made a huge list of possible names and picked from it, I just made mine there on the spot. I've always liked the Latin prefix "meta" so I took that and stuck cree on the end for no apparent reason. I have used this name for virtually everything I've done online.

You're friend was mistaken, it's from Final fantasy 9. No worries though, It's still spelled differently.

Well my friends MySpace name was Thunderhorse, after the song by Dethklok, and some kids at my school would joke about it with him by going up to him and screaming "THUNDERHORSE!! NEIIGGHHH!" in his face and my friend got sick of it so he changed his MySpace name. Soon after I decided to change my name to Thunderhorse to see what they would do but they never did anything. Then when I finally decided to join The Escapist, Thunderhorse was the only name I could think of.

Erm... I just really like cats. Now that I think about it, I should have really added a hyphen between that and my name...

To be honest it just came to me in a flash. 13 is my lucky number, and some people, for whatever reason, have an aversion to 13. Therefore FEAR thenumberthirteen!

It is the name of the coolest character in all of the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
He was one of the Faceless, assassins so good that they can change their face if they want to. He was so badass he killed a man by his own dog. A dog the hit had owned and cared for since it was just a puppy.
And I like the weirdness of the name.

I work nights, my gf works days, I tend to not get a lot of sleep, hence: Nemu, a bastardization of the Japanese word for "sleepy".

It should read Nemui, but I typically use various sleepy-type names (Nemunemu, Nemutai, et al).

bruno the pig is the title of a bonus track by the heavy metal band Children Of Bodom. It's actually just a jazz thing done by the keyboardist, and i liked it. And figured it would work quite well as a username. It's quite bewildering to most people lol :p

Used this name when I joined my first online game, like 9 years ago.
Wanted to be called Max and Mad just fit on it.
NOT NAMED AFTER THE MOVIE. Seriously, I've never seen it.
Tried 3 other variations hence the "20"

You've never seen Mad Max? Wow, you're missing out.

Mine is from a song called "The Oscillator's Hum" by a fairly unknown band called Frog Eyes. I've used it for a few years now, so I can't actually remember why I chose it.
