PS3: The Slim's been out for a fair while now and I'm not really a fan, because it lacks backward compatibility, and I'm not sure if they've fixed the Yellow light of death problem

Xbox: What is the honest point of The Elite when the new 360 is around?

Please can someone enlighten me?

Uhmm in case you didn't notice ALL PS3's after the original 20/60GB were not backwards compatible, it's not just the slim.

Yellow light? Seriously? It's not a common problem of PS3's like the 360's RROD. I don't think you should even worry about that.

Anyways, I got the PS3 Slim now, having 120 GB's is nice, I could have gone for the 250 GB but I (hopefully) thought 120 is enough for the future.

As for the 360, well I don't know much about it but most likely they will stop manufacturing 360 Elites like they did with the original white 360's.

I have the elite and it did indeed redring, which was a complete pain in the backside, but microsoft, being fair, did handle the issue perfectly, and took it off me, repaired it and sent it back two weeks later. The only issue was the guy in the call centre and his inability to understand English. I also have a ps3 slim and so far the console rules! no problems :)

I have an old fat PS3. Although I'd love 250gig I love the shiney look of the old ps3 instead of the black matte, and I love the metal contact detector buttons for power and disk instead of the clicky buttons.

The Slims are not PS2 BC. They do play PS1 games on a disc.

Which is bonkers, frankly. I realise that the inital reason PS2 backwards compatability got the chop was to reduce the price, but nowadays that doesn't apply.

Yes the yellow light of death that effects what 5% of consoles tops? As opposed to the rrod which was almost at 60%. Its only slightly more common cause of death for ps3s then being thrown down a flight of stairs.

Also ps3s were only backwards compatible for like the first couple years. They removed that along time before the slim came out, like along time before.

The elite is kind of outdated now. It used to be the console you bought when you didnt have a 360 and the arcade was for when yours red ringed.

They will phase it out eventually but it will simply take a few years for that to happen. People also dont know what the problems with the slim are yet so they may feel more comfortable buying the elite. You can also use other 360 hardrives with it, the slim uses a different one then the other 360s so you cant just change them out. That would be a big problem for people like me.
9-10% by game informer stats, with 54% for the 360.
but hey since we cannot trust that that means we cannot trust such claims as 60%. which is highly unlikely.
