Orks in THG warhammer franchise.

Is it just me or whenever a ork warboss show up in these warhammer 40k games they always steal the show. I mean look at gorgutz from DoW that ork survived through 2 games (No i do not count Soulstorm ,that abomination should be cast right into the eye of storm). So what is it about orks that makes them pretty popular among warhammer fans?

Its because they are a contradiction of everything GrimDark in the universe. For a setting that goes to such extremes on the scale of darkness, the Orks are basically there to highlight just how ridiculous the concept is. It is hard to take something as being exceptionally dark and gritty when you have a bunch of Green skinned soccer loonies running around painting things red to make'em go faster.

And because their broken English is hilarious.

Orks are silly.

That is why most 40k fans like them. They are just plain funny. Even more so in the tabletop game where they have some ridiculous rules like painting their vehicles red makes them faster. That is an actual rule because Orks can believe in something so hard that it actually works for them, and in a previous edition the transport capacity if their vehicles was the amount of models you could balance on top.

Ya their British hooligan attitude is really fucking hilarious, they are essentially the comic relief to the universe, but because they are just dummy Orkz it's still sort of makes sense.

The Orkz lost some of those humor with me when i played Space Marines. If you listen to those servo skull recording they were killing wounded in hospital and slaughtering women and children for sport!

I've only played space marine, but that warboss was badass. He gets knocked off of a platform by daemons and then just comes back up saying "I ain't that easy to kill".

I would actually love a game where a play as a warboss after that. It could almost be like overlord, but a shooter.

Anyway, not being a fan of the tabletop, I have no idea why they love orks so much. Maybe it's the humour? They're like ultra-violent gremlins, vicious, numerous, and often hilariously stupid.
