Besides gaming/computers/tech, what are your hobbies?

I personally like radio controlled cars. I have a 1/10th scale electric short course truck. It would hit around 25 mph when the battery was new but, the NiMH batteries aren't as good as the newer LiPo batteries.

I also like full sized cars, but I'm still learning in that area.

I've been trying to draw (its slow progress) and tearing apart action figures in order to make custom ones

Have you tried making your own parts? That would be awesome.
I probably don;t have the knowelge or materials to do that, though its suprising how well random parts can fit together...as is the nature of action figures

I do community work, mostly just event planning and helping out with clean-ups when I can.
Building furniture is also another small hobby of mine.
Sewing fun too, I don't get to do it to much because I'm in the country with no shops for supplies though.

Hey, I haven't seen you around in ages, welcome back!

OT: Well, you pretty much covered half of it there. Other than those, reading - I love reading. There is also tabletop gaming, which I haven't done much of for a while (busy :( and also few groups I can fit a schedule with around). Finally, something I want to come back to - scale modelling. Ooh, I loved it so much in the years past. But then I ran out of space for my models, put it on hold, then went to uni and now I have nothing.

I've done a few customs before. Mostly Star Wars and Halo stuff (I made my Spartan from Halo Reach out of duplicate parts and some modeling paint, it was cool). A good afterwash of black is great for filling the tiny crevasses in the figures to make the details really shine.

In response to the OP, I've been getting into 3D modeling lately. Mostly mechanical stuff, like cars, guns, boxes, etc. For example, a friend lent me a model of a civilian warthog from Halo. I just built it into a four-seater SUV akin to a Hummer H1. The best part is that the driving rig from Halo 3 and Reach can still be applied to it, since its wheelbase was not extended in any way.

cool....though I probably wouldn't do any figures that already exist since I'm not [i/]that[/i] good, right now I'm working on the main charachters from the comicbook Saga and a vault dweller from fallout

Now that is cool. I have a few friends that are major Fallout fans and they'd love to see such a thing come to life as a figure. What clothing/armor choices are you going for?

What do you do when it comes to clothing? Do you paint on or actual cloth?

Well I play guitar, and tend to write short stories every so often. There's surfing, and I recently picked up lutherie, which has been frustrating and amazing.

Considering I'm a computer programmer (so most my life is "tech" stuff) and still haven't gotten around to teaching myself to play that bass I bought yet - guns. Yeah, if you are against them, don't even start, I'm sick of hearing it already.

depends really, I probably wouldn't use "actual" cloth because at that size it just doesnt look right, there's no convincing wrinkles and it does "hang" the way youd want it too, that is unless there are techniques like...hardening/glueing it or somthing

so far anyway I've just been mixing/matching parts from other figures that only require some paining and modification (get out my trusty craft knife) for example one charachter has a cape so I swiped it off a batman figure, as for other extra stuff like armour/belts I have some vinly off-cuts from a model kit which should work well enough

probably the armoued vault suit from FO3, I had a Sam fisher figure from slintercell convition CE (I dont even liek slinter cell but I like figures) whom I figured I could convert to a vault dweller

I also want to make a female one and have seen some figures from battle star galactica (female, wearing a jumpsuit) that would make for a graet base

Oh no not Sam! (we ugly Americans up here never got Sam, *Grr,Grr, Shakes fist) Although you are right about his attire in Conviction: repaint that and he'd fit into a Vault's populace pretty well.

Fun fact: one of my master projects in 3D modeling comes from that game. In the Third Echelon HQ, there are two Chrysler Aspens in the Garage. I ripped one and I'm currently rebuilding it from the ground up as a Forza Motorsport-quality vehicle. It now has everything, from an engine to freakin cupholders.

I've got a few airsoft and two real ones myself (22 cal long rifle and Sig Sauer GSR, if you're wondering). I don't use the real ones much though, as one is for hunting and the other is my personal defense firearm. That thing has saved me from a few scrapes here and there. Anyone know that scene is Mass Effect 2 where Shep opens Grunt's Pod and Grunt presses Shep against the wall? I've been in a few situations like that. That's why some people refer to those things as an equalizer.
