grinding is one of the evils of the RPG genre and i think good RPGs keep it to a minimum. I try to only play good RPGs

Though as for over-grinding I usually always find the opposite, i.e. I'm usually woefully under prepared. I remember in Eye of the beholder I some how managed to skip a good chunk of the game and got to fighting the beholder with a fairly low level party, not good.
With baldurs gate though I suppose I did over grind, at least I maxed my characters before even getting to the city, though that was mainly because i missed a vital clue and spent about 100 hours scouring the map looking for a way into the city. So it wasn't really my choice
