Brink. Hyped to the moon and back. Tried my hardest to like it. There are some good parts but it's bogged down by bad gameplay decisions (Not to Splash Damage: The only reason the free-running in Mirror's Edge worked was because you were out in the open most of the time and didn't have a gun 99.9% of the time) and a horrendous matchmaking system. Add some surprisingly bad, low-res graphics and you have probably the biggest disappointment of this console generation.

Gosh, what is your guys' obsession with Solitaire? That stupid King just constantly trolls me, with the way how he won't go on any card besides an empty slot.
I freaking hate Solitaire...I've never been good at it but I have given it a few attempts so I know what I'm talking about when I say I HATE Solitaire.

I'm also having trouble getting into Minecraft. It isn't one that I dislike outright but, I don't really care for it.

skyrim - it was a bugged out piece of crap. The mods made it tolerable, but it was always going to be a fundamentally broken game, even with the dragons.

I never have high expectations (excluding Zelda), so it would be really hard to disappoint me.
But I could say it's the Elder Scrolls serial. It's really good, but not even close to what people talk.

Deus Ex: HR - Played it for about two hours, then just couldn't get the motivation to pick it back up. I thought the graphics sucked, the voice acting sucked, the controls sucked, the camera sucked. I really thought someone was having a joke on me when I heard it was being critically acclaimed as one of the best games of the year

Dead Island - I have no patience for games that are hard just for the sake of being hard. When I got to the second area and died ten times trying to take out a few zombies, I decided that it was time to quit. Not a moment too soon, apparently. I hear the sewer levels were not too far off, and were even worse than what I played.

Demon's Souls - Again, games that have the selling point of "OMG, it's so hard, but sooooo rewarding when you finally get through it," are not for me. I've read that it's so challenging that, once you beat one part, you just want to keep going to see what comes next, but that wasn't the case for me. I turned a corner, got my head knocked in by a skeleton, and the game knocked me back to the beginning of the level, didn't give me back my items, and put all the enemies back. That, and the complete lack of a pause function at all. I don't want a pause menu, I don't care if they black out the screen when you pause so you can't use it to investigate the scenery, but when I have to take a piss and the game tells me "Well, I'll just sit here. Hope no one kills you while you're giving it that second shake," THAT game can go fuck itself. Seriously, that's not difficult, it's just stupid. Hell, the pause menu has been standard since the beginning of home gaming. Why take it out now?

Bayonetta - I've said this one before, and God help me, I'll say it again, but this game was a shit heap. Horrible voice acting on top of a terrible script ("Time to go VROOM!" anyone?) with generic gameplay, over the top sexual innuendo and cut scenes that would have been considered behind the times on the original XBox. Still, it got hype, probably because it was made by the same team that did Devil May Cry. Speaking of which...

Devil May Cry - Pretty much for the same reasons as Bayonetta. Don't know why this one got so much hype, though. I beat it in just a few hours with little to no challenge, I couldn't mention one bit of gameplay that was memorable, and the only reason I can remember any plot points at all is because of the hilariously bad writing and over the top voice acting. I have no clue why this game is so hyped.

That's all I can think of right now, and that's not including games that I enjoyed, but didn't think they deserved what hype they recieved. I've gone on for too long already, though.

Bioshock and to an extent, Dead Island.

I do like the gameplay of Dead Island but I hate the devs now for releasing such a horribly broken game, I was going to play through with a good friend of mine but his copy crashes his computer every 5 minutes.

the orignal Deus Ex thanks to the terrible gunplay and bad acting
Dragon Age: Origins becuse the combat......was.....paced......like.....this, and the fact that I spent the whole game wishing for the death of most of the main cast
the Witcher 2: unbalenced combat difficulty and unbearable protaginst, pointless "attract the lowest common denominator" sex
uncharted 2: clunky combat predictable story, and DEAR GOD I want to KILL nathan drake (with a blunt knife)
RAGE: woo prety graphics, doesn't make up for boring gameplay

But to say it deserves to be UTTERED in the same breathe as Skyrim Uncharted 3, etc. is hurtful.
And you know this...how? I understand the other two, but the two games mentioned above aren't released and yet you've already labeled it with "awesome". Unless you already played them somehow or the information they've given us is vast enough to make an educated guess, I don't really understand why people keep mentioning Skyrim in situations like this.

Anyway...IMO,

The usual stuff like Gears series, AC series, Halo series, CoD series for reasons already mentioned a million times by others.

Uncharted 1 & 2. They're not bad games when you're in the mood for just some exploring and shooting, but nearly every site kept repeating how it was some kind of godsend. It isn't.

Red Dead Redemption. It had ridiculously bad pacing, average gameplay, average story, decent characters and a decent score. It was a decent game, but in no way did it deserve so many GOTY awards and in no way is Gamespot even remotely credible anymore after having sucked Rockstar's/RDR's cock off that year (They never were a credible gaming site [just like IGN], but I personally stopped taking their reviews seriously after that).

Oblivion, which I don't hate and can see why others would like it, but I simply find it to be average and incredibly overrated. Nearly non-existent story, boring (although huge, beautiful and colorful) world, mostly boring sidequests, decent gameplay and good score, but flat-out boring overall. I really tried to like this game, I really did.

Fallout 3. You know those good things about oblivion and the incredibly awesome stuff of Fallout 2? Take all of those away and you get this piece of shit.

And GTA IV for the same reasons Woodsey dislikes it. Boring game, weak characters, bad pacing, badly written story, pretty much bad fucking everything. I bought it simply due to the sheer 10's it was getting everywhere. It was the game that made me stop caring about gaming reviews.

All the CoD games except 4, all the Halo games except Reach, all the Gears of War games, all the God of War games except the first, Bioshock 2, Oblivion, Doom 3, World of Warcraft, Dead Space...I can go on forever.
I can see why you may have liked CoD4, it is enjoyable enough, but what was wrong with CoD and CoD2? I thought those were better than Four. Then again I didn't burn out on WW2 like some others, I only played Brothers in Arms for that Ghost Recon Lite experience. EDIT: I'm thinking single player here because I was late to the party with the COD games so maybe CoD and CoD2 had super sucky multi?

I can't get into Olivion, because of it's inherent clunkiness and ugliness (character models, I can forgive Deus Ex and System Shock due to their age but Oblivion?) I should mod it someday and try again, I also dislike the combat system, it feels ill defined. I probably ruined any chance of me enjoying it by playing Fallout 3 first. Are there mods to use the Fallout 3 lockpicking in Oblivion?

Bioshock is nothing particularly ground breaking if you have been playing PC games for the previous ten years (pretty game, shit gameplay, not particularly spectacular story).

What makes Brink worse is that Splash Damage made two of the best multiplayer class based team shooters of all time in the two Enemy Territory games. Brink was doubly a disapointment when compared to those two gems.

Guitar Hero/Rockband admittedly that hype seems to have died down now, but I never saw the appeal.

Mass Effect and Dragon Age for me. Bland, stodgy gameplay, impenetrable plots and insipid dialogue.
Why did BioWare still exist after KoToR 1?

CoD MW it's not that bad really but it's short as hell and there are too many trial and error moments. So if you are like me and don't give a shit about multiplayer it really wasn't worth the full price.
Assassins Creed I just didn't get into it, played something like an hour or so and left it there, I should probably give it another chance someday though, like I did with Mass Effect and now I have 500+ hour on that game.
Assassins Creed 2 is much better than the first one. I found the first ones missions to be repetitive. Imagine the 2nd one to be like gta but with parkour and swords

OT: BF3 it was all meh to me. *ducks behinds chest high wall for fear of hate comments*

Bioshock i can not see how everybody says it was such a inovating game. The shooting was not that great and lot of the ideas had been done better in other games.I dont hate the game but it felt very meh to me.

...

You found the first Assassin's Creed repetitive, but not the 2nd? Seriously? Do you know what repetitive means?
no... not really. there was more variety to the second one IMO
