Or the "manly" movie version:

Opening of fight scene with protagonist kicking ass. Gradual filling in with weak plot. More fight scenes and pointless explosions (one liners optional). A woman takes off her clothes. Protagonist suffers large defeat (possibly involving a betrayal and/or a father figure getting killed). Protagonist gets angry and defeats all enemies.
This is basically the entire plot of Shoot 'Em Up... but it was so cliche'd it was awesome.

The yelp when some random goon dies in an action movie scene. You know the one I mean.
The Wilhelm scream, yeah pretty prevalent.
I've notice that the "yeeeeaaaaaaghh..." agonized scream they use in the Starcraft Marine biolabs has been catching up to the Wilhelm. It seems to be used in slightly more srious action pics. Have no idea wher it originated.

I was really surprised when they used the Wilhelm scream in Mel Gibson's The Passion.

I pulled this one in my own story, my bad! Though in my defence I don't believe anyone has tried pulling this quite so drastically in conventional fantasy, and it's not revealed as a last minute plot-destroyer, he's pretty much known as snooker-bloomin-loopy from the start. Do I still get the big red stamp of rejection?

"It's quiet. Too quiet."

That, or "That idea is crazy... So crazy it might work!"
Neither of these are ever used seriously anymore. They became so overused that Hollywood jokes about it.
I saw a film once where they used that line twice in the same scene.
"It's dark in here" "Yeah, a little too dark"
"It's quiet in here" "Yeah, a little too quiet"
Then I started it ...
"There's a lot of cars in here" "Yeah, a little too a lot of cars in here"
"This door is locked" "Yeah, a little too locked"
"He's behind you!" "Yeah, a little too behind me"
""It's dark in here" "Yeah, a little too dark"
"It's quiet in here" "Yeah, a little too quiet"
"Hey, it's Raph!" "Yeah, a little too Raph."

- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze.

Despite what you might think, brilliant film!

He's our family, I'm your family, WE ARE FAMILY %$#@ IT! As said by every drill sergeant, sport coach and southern parent. Usually supported by an instrumental interpretation of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" to really make the message even more subtle.

Very little in terms of cinema or television entertains me in even the slightest way anymore.
Doesn't the woman usually take her cloths off after the heroes big defeat/betrayal/loss of father figure? You know, she tries to console him over it, he's initially hostile, but later they end up humping like bunnies on steroids.

As for me, it's superfluous sex scenes. I hate seeing any sex scenes, but I can tolerate it if it's a)done tastefully and b)actually adds something to the story.
I always say that you can always tell you're watching a bad movie if it has a sex scene within the first 5-10 minutes.

Heh a fair point, but I can see it either way. One common method is that the protagonist is off having sex with said woman and thus is not present to save the father figure. Hell in some cases the sex scene could actually BE the betrayal.

If the worst that can be done is argue about the particulars of the chronology of the required stereotyped events, it's still not saying much about the movie as a whole :p

This isn't a big thing and I realize the logic. It just still kinda bugs me. When somebody waits until just before firing to load the next shot into their shotgun. Yeah, I realize that the sound is intimidating and all but, logically, wouldn't you already have it loaded so that you can fire without having to waste that time?

When a generic action B-Movie hero walks away from an explosion.
If you think that's annoying then just watch "The Marine"...that was so awful and he survives being thrown out an exploding gas station, an exploding car, and I don't know what else. Marines are tough but NOBODY is that tough (or lucky).

CGI specaial effects.

3D animation.
I get most of your others, but what's the deal with these two?

3D Animation is a sub-genre and CGI can sometimes be the only way to do things, whether it be Blue Screen or otherwise.

I don't even get how they can be cliché to be honest.

Except that the entire series was the guy making fun of idiots.

Did you read the definitions? I was laughing my head off in the backseat of a car, with my parents asking me if I was alright.

When the protagonist quotes something said to him earlier in the film as he does something out of character, which often resolves the disequilibrium of the movie. Seriously, it sucks giant giraffe.

See: Resident Evil: Degeneration.

I hate it when protagonists quote people...

If it's a Goodkind fanfic, this is forgiven. Even though the author never said it, we all know it to be true.
