I think its getting to a stage where you need to have the talk.

I don't know whether you know this but people are not you. They don't have the same name, idea or personality. Accept that some (and in this case most) people are going to disagree with you. Being a jerk is only making you angry.

I played payday for about 3wks before going infamous after which it became boring. There is a chronic shortage of levels for a grinding game. If they lock out content, they will lose all my future business, but I'm not going to whinge about it.
And here again is the suggested notion that I am in the wrong to express a strong opinion of any kind and that anyone that does so should be condescended to.

Because according to all of you, things need not be said ever - They will just sort themselves automatically. If that were the case would the escapist have any articles on the site whatsoever?

Seriously, how do you people manage to go through life in any capacity when you are seemingly too aloof to engage with absolutely anything? And don't tell me to chill out because it's "just a video game." We are all on this site because of "just video games". That is not something you are in a position to claim is below discussion.

I am angry. I am angry at a company that is exploiting it's customers. And I am angry at you and all the others that condescend by repeating the same old tired clichés over and over again.

If you do not care to hear the words of someone that is angry, please feel free not to enter the topic and feel free to not engage in conversation with me. If what I am saying is in fact wrong, there is a staff of moderators to deal with me.

Just don't get angry. Posting on a forum you have the time and luxury to exercise calm and and restraint. If people disagreeing with you is making you this angry it might be time to step away from the computer and count to 10.

On Topic: I enjoy playing Payday 2 but I am not going to spend 20 dollars on cosmetic bullshit. When Diablo III was announced that it was going to be always online I cancelled my pre-order for the Collector's Edition. I don't care how many people bought the game. I have the satisfaction of knowing I didn't help contribute to shitty DRM practices.

My anger is only the kind that makes me persistent. If what I say rub someone else the wrong way then let it.

For the sake of transparency - No, I do not support any practise of this kind. I have not purchased any EA or Ubisoft game because I consider their actions as hostile towards consumers, with pre-orders, review embargos, broken releases, false marketing, blatant cash grabbing, thoroughly dysfunctional games (The fact that I could not disable mouse acceleration in Watch_Dogs is what made me swear of Ubisoft completely), redundant or dysfunctional online services and an obvious disdain for their customers in treating them like idiots (The "low FPS is cinematic" situation comes to mind).

I follow what I preach, so it's pointless for anyone to attack me for just talking and not acting. That is, unless they can actually prove that I act opposite of what I preach.

I don't really understand where this notion that anger isn't permitted is coming from however. Should our ultimate aspiration be to become emotionless automatons? I know for a fact that anger itself is not against the rules, because if it were then Yahtzee would not be able to contribute to the site. He is eloquent, but angry about a lot of things nonetheless.

I got a single warning for insulting another user, but I know fully well that this users demeanour is intended to create just that kind of result. I'm not going to bite again.

You can be persistent without being angry. That's cool you don't support stuff like the Overkill pack. Getting angry at people that do support it or see nothing wrong with it doesn't help matters. All that is going to do is cause people to take you less seriously.

You say that as if they treated the subject matter seriously or me with any kind of respect to begin with:

People that condescend, belittle or act rudely can expect the same in return. I'm not saying they should be met with equal hostility, but it's reasonable for them to expect it.

Oh no, more content for the game. And it could possibly cost money to develop? The outrage!
When you bought Payday 2, you paid for the game you paid for, and you got what you paid for. Since then, they've wanted to give back and keep the community alive and kicking by releasing lots of free content, some paid, but of good quality. They could've abandonded the game 2 months after release and started work on Payday 3 (because in order to make money, you need a product to sell) to keep themselves afloat with wages to pay their talented staff. But no, they keep giving back to the community, and sometimes they need to charge money for it. So what? They don't owe you anything past the game you initially paid for. Everything else is an added bonus, whether it's free or paid. Don't like it? Don't pay it. The game you bought is the game you got.

I wasn't aware of this donation deal, but thanks to this thread I'll make sure to donate twice.

yes sure they said the same thing about DLC

until they started pumping out DLC for everything without really adding much to the game, and then they started taking content away from the game to sell it as DLC on day one, or locking content already on the freakin' disk and selling it as DLC, and they they started selling pre-order for DLC

so, sorry Mr "a fucking genius", your solution has not only been proposed before, it failed miserably back then
And do you know why it "failed"?

Because people buy DLC.

You can complain until the end of time, but the fact of the matter is that if enough people are buying DLC and whatnot, then clearly the practice is not enough to discourage customers. If people are demonstrably willing to pay the price, then the price is clearly not too high.
then your amazing solution fails

because it doesnt rely on me or you to not buy X, it relies on enough people not buying X to make it unprofitable

but in the case X becomes profitable everyone who doesnt buy X in the future gets screwed over

this time they are selling cosmetics, maybe next time theyll sell weapons, maybe next time theyll sell exclusive maps

you not buying it is completely inconsequential if they still manage to make a quick buck, in fact you get screwed over, thats how they make you pay

why do you think the zombie mode for dying light was reserved for pre-orders? an entire game mode, reserved for those willing to gamble 60 bucks on the game's quality, before launch, before any reviews or word of mouth got out

but if you didnt pre-order it, prepare to get invaded by player controller zombies dear customer, and you better fucking love it, but make no mistake, you dont get the chance to do the same

Luckily Dying Light has a private mode for single-player. I don't mind buying cosmetic DLC or weapons DLC if the DLC is priced fairly.

I don't like it near as much as Crimefest, because I can't realistically see us meeting half the goals in time for the deadline.
Okay, I said this yesterday and I'm redacting this statement. It's been one day, and since I posted this it went from 600 gallons to 200,000 gallons. That's one-tenth of the final goal generated in one day, and we have more than a month left. The last goal, if this pace doesn't drop (and it usually does drop), should be reached roughly three weeks before the end time.

I didn't say you were wrong. Its your view.

It is wrong to try and make other people believe as you. You get to have freedom of speech but we have to freedom to not listen and speak our own mind.

And we also have the right to laugh every time you get a citation for being a dick to Zhukov because he's right and you're being a bit of a goob about it.

While I agree that it's shady, I've pretty-much had most of my fun with the game. I still play it now and then. But I don't really feel the content is justified to be $20. So... I'm just not gonna buy it! I may reconsider if I get in another group.

I used to play a lot of PAYDAY 2, and I kept up a lot with the DLC heists and weapons, but it just kind of got to a point where it seemed like every other week they would release a new pack with new stuff that you would never use, and I just got bored of the oversaturation of the game. Sure, they release some free stuff every now and again, and all of the heists are free to join (not to host), but this is the perfect example of too much DLC. I just can't be bothered with the game anymore.
This is why I stopped after 58 hours, I got tired of playing the same heists over and over.

Man, that is one complicated system, if it takes 4 pages to explain your system them it may be better to simplify it.
A quick scan of it and I don't even know the benefits of the high priced vs low priced options, so you're just paying the money for cosmetic items and the other stuff comes free to everyone as long as it was unlocked? It's certainly interesting but hardly something I'd support.

I'm all for new ideas in marketing, but I've never been a fan of relying on more then myself to unlock something, stretch goals in Kick Starter are cool little additions but not the cruix of the entire sale.

So many people on this site recently don't seem to understand how capitalist markets work.

What's up with that?
