The original Yoshitsuna from Disgaea: Hour/Afternoon of Darkness.

A glowing white sword that powers up all stats by an amazing amount, improves movement and jump ability, AND can attack enemies from 5 squares away? Woo!

Dawn/Duskfang in Oblivion, does good fire/ice damage and automatically recharges every 12 hours.

"Holy shit!" Was all I could say the first time I used it. Killed myself in the process, too.
How does that thing work? Whenever I try to fire it nothing comes out.

The laser-guided RPG in the Half-Life series. The ammo's scarce, and the first game the RPG wasn't really responsive, but it's reload is almost nothing, and it almost never misses, with the appropriate skill. You can have it flying around the screen, going extremely fast, being hard to see and dodge, before making it hit your enemy.

It was an extremely fun weapon to use, mainly because of doing loop-de-loops, but as I said, ammo wasn't easy to find.

Uh ok.

The Lever-Action Rifle added to Fallout 3 by the Point Lookout DLC. If you get it early in the game, nothing beats it in terms of damage/ammo availability and it makes the entire wasteland an entirely safer place for you. More damage than the unique Hunting Rifle, only slightly less than Lincoln's Repeater, but since it fires 10mm instead of .44 you're less likely to be running out of bullets early on in the game. Completely unbalances Fallout 3 for the first 10 character levels or so. Also, comes with a satisfying *ping*+*boom* when fired.

the cursed weapons that feature in the Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia games. They start with +0 stats, but everytime you kill a monster that is increased by 1. Soon you've got a weapon which is three times as powerful as the 'best weapon in the game'.

Overpowered, yes. But at least you're made to work for them.

The bolter pistols and rifles from Warhammer 40k. They're basically full-auto armour-piercing rocket-propelled grenade launchers... OVERPOWERED!

The autocrossbow from Final Fantasy VI.

It was seriously the, "Oh fuck this" option in that game.

I shall disagree for the Firelance was the best, most overpowered item in the game
