Magic in Oblivion, by its very nature its overpowered.

In the old DoD 2.0,iirc, the BAR was too strong.

YOU in prototype

CQC in the mgs series

desperation devil trigger sparda transformation in dmc2 was by far the worst i've encountered (when you try to use devil trigger with less than a quarter health instead of going dante demon you actually turn into sparda) .. his attacks are AOE's ... their range is phenominal ... and usually you can take down a boss before the devil trigger dissapears (5 seconds)

any shotgun with slugs in bad company 2, damn thing can be used to snipe, at least in hardcore mode, Ill bet its not quite as effective in normal but still damn annoying Im sure

Carl Gustav
40mm Grenade Launcher
Shotguns w/Slugs

And of course....
The AN-94. The very definition of overpowered in BC2.

Put this in the hands of a skilled Pyro and, especially with that new feckin' Degreaser, you're just scared to go around any corner even in your own base.

Doesn't help that I have a friend who enjoys using the "Puff and Sting" strategy on me just because it annoys me.
Rarely does it to anyone else, just me. I hate my friends sometimes...
I have forever sworn off the Axtinguisher since I got 42 points through nothing but spam. Damn that weapon is evil.

The chainsaw in L4D2. Sure, its a zombie mauler, but it is so powerful it can kill your friends faster than it kills a tank.

Both of the weapons and the magic my Fable 2 character wields and the character itself.
The weapons are a Master Cleaver and a Master Turret Rifle from Knothole island, with 4 augmentation slots, both heal me on every hit and both give me gold on every kill (as if I don't get enough of that stuff from landlording), I can't really remember what the other augments did, maybe do more damage.
As for the spells and the character, everything is just maxed out...

Celestial Fury in Baldur's Gate 2.
For the time you can get that weapon, it was crazy overpowered, easily rivaling even the end game weapons in terms of usefulness. (and due to a zoning glitch, you can get TWO, for that old-school-dual-wield-katana action that pissed me off to no end back in the day).

Halo 2 - Rocket Launcher (ala the "Whale Dick Launcher")
Unless you were a total fucking scrub (or got spawn-camped), you ALWAYS went 2-for-1 with this thing; 1-for-1 if you suicided.

It owns vehicles. It owns players.

Have you ever played a match against some tube-happy Assault or Rocket-Spamming Engie with Explosive Mk.2 and Extra Grenades perks? It's not exactly a walk in the park.

And I do know how they tried to tone them down but I personally think it didn't do much.

When I used to play MW2, I remembered the ACR being ridiculously overpowered. It had no recoil at all and like all weapons in that game, it took less than four bullets to kill someone, add that to the fast fire rate, and it was overpowered as shit.

Also, noobtubes and danger close sucked.

Chicago Typewriter from Resident Evil 4. Stupidly overpowered, it's not even fun to use it since pretty much everything, including bosses, can be killed in mere seconds

The Halo:CE pistol. That thing was godly against anything it went up against. I always wondered why the UNSC didn't just keep the pistol and kill the covenant with that.

And please notice the soundtrack changing when it fires...

Magic in Oblivion can do everything. Everything. It makes a ton of skills useless (who need sneak when you can turn invisible at will? Who need lockpicking when spells can do it instantly? Who need "personality" when you can charm anyone to 100% with a single, 1 second spell?) Also, with summoning a mage can always have a meatshield ready.

It doesnt require gear to be good, you just need one ressource: mana (magicka).

Plus you can update/upgrade it whenever you want as long as you have acess to the "craft your own spells" thing.

Pure warriors and rogues simply cant compete effectively against pure mages and critters past level 20.

Well those are ranged weapons that travel slowly, knives and bullets travel faster than it takes to reload a rocket or switch weapons. You should also stay out of sight to ensure a non-exposive death from some guy sniping with a tube or rockets.
