Overpriced DLC

When I got Call of Duty 4 I picked up the Game of the Year Edition cause everywhere I looked it said that COD4: GOTYE got you the map pack for free. Well, that was a lie. Or maybe at first people got it for free and people like me who bought it after a certain amount of time got shafted with a $60 purchase of a game that was $50 and all we got different was a the cover. Now I could go after that for false advertisement but I won't. So I got a prepaid card and went to get the map pack download and it was $10 or 800 M$ points. Is it just me or is that a rip off. I had the same problem with the Halo 3 map packs when they first came out. The Variety Map Pack has 4 maps. 4 maps for $10/800 M$ points. That's $2.50 a map. Which in turn is a rip off. PC users got the maps for free with the V6 patch so why not us? Or get them for a reasonable price? Another game with overpriced DLC is Killzone 2. Both map packs have two maps for $6 each. $3 a map? Fuck that. I don't care how much I want to play Beachhead again, I'm not paying $3 per map.

i've always thought the DLC was overpriced and how it was unfair that other systems got them for free, if they cut the price in half for the map packs that would be good enough.

the worst case is the map pack for fallout, it's overpriced for something so short.

Halo 3 accualy requires you to have a bunch of map packs if you want to play all the game modes, that's kinda like: here is a game but you can't play it until you have paid us more.

Ah, the joys of free updates for the PC.
It isnt going stay like that forever saddly... once games for windows starts taking over everything micro$oft will have control over dlc on the pc too

personnaly i dont think it will be long before were been charged to get a patch for the games... dlc i think is the worse thing to happen to games due to the fact its encouraging companies to make a full game, then just before release saying " hmmm what can we cut out and sell back to the public at a later date?" games are becoming arguably shorter, and more pricy...

For the record Games for Windows is absolute crap, Steam has a bigger chance of "taking over" and besides: PC = Piracy.

Man I love PC gaming! In stead of having to pay money for new content, we have tons of people out there who create mods and maps which we can download and play for free! For some games, there is literally thousands of hours of gameplay available for fee. Truly amazing.

There is DLC that's worth downloading and priced adequadly (Lost & Damned, Raising Hell, Shivering Isles) and stuff that doesn't interest me once I finished the game (Fable 2, Mass Effect).
But then again I don't play online so my choices are (fortunately) a little bit limited. Sucks to be ripped off for a bunch new maps, though.

You don't HAVE to purchase the map packs for Halo 3. To Bungie's credit they figured out an effective way to keep the MP portion of the game easily accessible for everyone. Don't get me wrong it is not a perfect system, but setting up play lists for the individual map packs is very efficient. I admit that I hate paying for DLC as well, but without making some sort of profit off these packs developers would not be able to keep making them.

"the worst case is the map pack for fallout, it's overpriced for something so short."

What map packs? The DLC are expansions, and the only one out of the three that was a bit of a disappointment in terms of length was Operation: Anchorage. The Pitt, and Broken Steel delivered in my opinion.

Steam is equally craptastic, you should never have to log in to play.
Are you seriously so lazy that you can't wait 2 minutes until it starts? That's the same as saying "PC is crap because you have to wait until it fully loads!".

Thankfully Games for Windows has almost no chance up against Steam, and we've all seen how supportive Valve has been with TF2. I think Xbox 360 users made a lot of big mistakes, they never raised any stink over subscription fees for XBL or DLC, so they get what they deserve: more and more micropayments and other assorted BS.

The Call of Duty Map packs are always bad - World at War - £7.99 for 3 maps and 1 zombies and 4 was also bad but I think with last Thursdays update Killzone 2 Wins - 2 Maps from Killzone 1 for £7.99 - What Crap

Those were short. It made me hate Fallout 3 a bit (and Bethesda).

I think that Microsoft should lower the prices a bit, maybe not even have, but lower them nonetheless. They can give it to people that are using their computers, but console gamers have to pay for it? I know the developers have to make money... The only DLC I buy is for Halo 3 and Fable 2. I don't think there will be more for those so I'll stop complaining now.
