So who here plays paintball and what do you use?

Also, do people who paintball like FPS games more than other games?

Spyder MR-1, Wal-Mart type. Simple, yet effective in close quarters.

And, No. I play Paintball, yet my favorite genre is RPG and RTS.

I find going to paintball parks and acting like a crazed Vietnam veteran more fun than the actual paintball.

Although getting headshots is fun as well.

I usually paintball on a weekly basis, but my current financial situation has prevented me from playing the last couple of weeks. Tippman 98 Custom w/RDS, G36 folding stock and a true double trigger.

I don't mind FPS, but they're far from my favorite genre.

I've still got a faint circular scar from a close encounter of the paintball kind.

I can't afford to paintball. Last time I went, I almost hit the $500 mark worth of paint.

Just played my first game of paintball the other day. Decided it was full of awesome, and I want to turn it into a long-term thing.

I already have all the gear I need (helmet, air, etc.), but the gun I used was a borrowed one. I have my sights set on one of these

For no other reason that it's somewhat in my price-range ($129.00 is about as high as I'm willing to go. I'm not rich!), and it looks kinda cool. Any advice on if I can get a better gun that's as much as or less then this one (and none of those shiny ones. I'm gonna be playing in the woods a lot, and bright pink doesn't really blend in well)?

Go with an tippman A5. It has the most mods available for it hands down. PLus it has the cyclone feed system standard so you will almost never have to worry about balls breaking in the barrel. If you can find a tiny 3inch barrel, it looks exactly like an MPT-9K submachinegun. You can also get M4 carbine mods that'll look a lot better than that.

If you're on a really really tight budget, go for the Tippman 98custom. They usually rent them out at fields because they're decent markers and rugged as hell.

Oh, and I'm an RPG fan first and foremost, but I also enjoy FPS games.

Funny, perhaps its because there is an alternative outlet for violence?

I fully recommend the Tippman brand, but as I said above I have a 98 Custom ($100) and my friend has the Alpha Black ($150 or so I believe). He's had a lot more problems with his Alpha Black that I've had with my 98 Custom (but Tippman has replaced his parts free so far). Internally they're the same gun (Alpha Black is modeled on the 98 Custom), but the 98 Custom can be upgraded both internally and externally in numerous ways (mine is set up as an 'SMG', but you can get 'Assault Rifle' and 'Sniper Rifle' mods) or left stock and it's still kick@ss. The Alpha Black is essentially the 98 Custom with the 'body kit' pre-installed. You can only get a longer barrel for the Alpha Black, no other 'true' upgrades (not sure if you can fit 98 custom parts on the Alpha Black body, but probably not worth it anyway).

Not a bad buy, but he's looking cheap I believe he said...
A5 is $180 stock

I've always wondered, are there any controls on what constitutes a paintball gun? Does anyone make Paintball Sniper Rifles? How about Paintbazookas? Paint grenades?

Yes, they make all of those. As well as paint claymore mines, mines, shotguns...

Basically if you can dream it, some jackass has already made it.

Sniper Rifles are 'made' when people modify their markers (the first poster's marker would be considered a 'sniper'), however it's been shown that they are not more accurate, nor do they have a greater range.

I've seen videos of homemade paintbazookas, essentially they're the same as the paintball shotguns that are made by actual companies. Both shoot multiple projectiles in one direction (very little accuracy).

There are both spinning paint grenades, and explosive paint grenades. Spinning grenades just throw liquid paint so they have very little range and you don't feel yourself get hit, but they're cheaper. Explosive grenades will shoot out paintballs like an actual grenade, but they're quite expensive (and 'slightly' dangerous).

That's freaking sweet. If I ever decide to paintball I'm so stocking up on mines. I'll just litter the forest with them. It'll be awesome.

I would kill for some RAP4 markers...but alas they're extremely expensive ($400 for pistols...). For those that don't know, RAP4 specifically designs their markers to look like real guns.

That would probably get you banned from the field. Painball mines are usually restricted to scerio fights. Also full auto is restricted or banned for the same reason because its a ***** to clean 20+ paintballs off you when all they needed was a single shot to hit.

Nice pistol Khell_Sennet! I can totally see someone dual wielding those. My boss bought one as a sidearm and he loves it. Apparently its very accurate. I felt it and its actually pretty light as well with the ballance towards the grip/rear where I like it =)

BTW, I blew through 2 bags of paintballs (1000 rounds per) in almost no time at all when I got the one in my pic. Given I was calibrating the scope and FPS of the balls (so its field legal). I cant see anyone going through 5000 unless they're playing speedball or just jacking around.

Unfortunately I don't have much time to play any more, so I am considering selling most of this off. Anyway I have just a few...

Are the explosive kind legal at all courses? I thought I had heard that you couldn't use them everywhere you can play because of the slight danger associated with an actual explostion.
