Just played my first game of paintball the other day. Decided it was full of awesome, and I want to turn it into a long-term thing.

I already have all the gear I need (helmet, air, etc.), but the gun I used was a borrowed one. I have my sights set on one of these

For no other reason that it's somewhat in my price-range ($129.00 is about as high as I'm willing to go. I'm not rich!), and it looks kinda cool. Any advice on if I can get a better gun that's as much as or less then this one (and none of those shiny ones. I'm gonna be playing in the woods a lot, and bright pink doesn't really blend in well)?
I fully recommend the Tippman brand, but as I said above I have a 98 Custom ($100) and my friend has the Alpha Black ($150 or so I believe). He's had a lot more problems with his Alpha Black that I've had with my 98 Custom (but Tippman has replaced his parts free so far). Internally they're the same gun (Alpha Black is modeled on the 98 Custom), but the 98 Custom can be upgraded both internally and externally in numerous ways (mine is set up as an 'SMG', but you can get 'Assault Rifle' and 'Sniper Rifle' mods) or left stock and it's still kick@ss. The Alpha Black is essentially the 98 Custom with the 'body kit' pre-installed. You can only get a longer barrel for the Alpha Black, no other 'true' upgrades (not sure if you can fit 98 custom parts on the Alpha Black body, but probably not worth it anyway).
Only the e-trigger and I think but am not certain there is a cyclone loader for it.

I do appreciate my Alpha Black the thing can pump paint like you wouldn't believe and it looks sweet.

I have the RAP4 (The original M4 replica version) and its not just that it looks like a real gun that makes it an excellent paintball gun. It is clip-fed, no hopper. I've got 5 clips and when one runs out it takes 2 second to reload, none of those annoying pods to carry around and dump into your hopper. It is also .43 cal whereas standard paintballs are .68 cal so they are more accurate, and the gun is very efficient with its CO2 usage.

Official paintball fields suck. If you want a good paintball game, play in the woods. The fields that I have tried to go to don't allow camo, sidearms, grenades, mines, or my RAP4. One of them even rented tac-vests with lumbar support. The fields are for yuppies, plain and simple. I'm not saying that the people who play there are yuppies, just that yuppies are the fields' target audience. My friends and I have been playing in the same forest for 7 years, we've got several different foxholes dug, we place mines the night before, and we all carry 3 or more guns with us while playing in full camo(arctic during the winter). We even do overnights sometimes and set up separate camps for the teams.

Good to know. My A5 is great quality (I'm assuming before tippman was bought out then). From what I've heard the newer A5's misfire due to a crappy cyclone feed primarily.

I might get one of those pistols as a sidearm since I've got a smaller "clip" since I dont use a hopper, only a thirty-two cap.

Just bought an electronic red-dot scope btw. =)

Me and my friends used to play airsoft, but now we're thinking about playing paintball.
What are some good beginner's guns?

What price point are you looking for?

I wouldn't expect a beginner gun to be too expensive.
Nothing more then $150 (or somewhere around there)
