this is like the first thing i heard from patcher that i agree with. honestly he annoys the crap out of me. but if the 360 dropped say 50 - 100 i would probably buy one for myself.

It's S. Xbox 360 S. Just because Sony makes new versions of their consoles and calls them "Slim" doesn't mean Microsoft does too.
Really man, really? Does it matter that much to you? It's a slimline version of a console, Sxbox360 S sounds silly anyway, 360 slim rolls off the tongue much better.
Yes it does matter. It bothers me immensely when people claim to know things that they obviously don't, or are misinformed.

Goddamn people. You don't NEED the new fancy 360. The arcade unit is 150 and it comes with Viva pinata (meh) and Banjo Kazooie (I swear it's one of the best games on the entire system.). Drop in a cheapie HD and you're set.
Banjo Kazooie is overrated. I was very enthusiastic about getting it, but when I actually did I was disappointed. I'll finish it through at some point, and then trade it in for new games, but it's hardly a system seller or really something noteworthy to be packaged in with the system.
To you, perhaps. It's seen way more playtime than any other 360 game I have.
That just doesn't speak very highly of the rest of the 360 library.

The 360 doesn't need a price drop. It's selling poorly because MOST OF THE GAME BUYING WORLD IS STILL IN A DAMN RECESSION. Of course, this was Michael Pachter talking, and he's always wrong.

Escapist, why do you keep posting about this guy?

P.S. No thanks until you stop posting about Pachter

I'm sorry, but I wasnt aware Microsoft was hurting in their console sales... I think just about every person I know owns one of the damn machines: In the long run, isnt that whats hurting console sales?

The 360 Sells largly to the teenage highschool/college demographic. I realize a lot of people DONT have them, but still. Its not like Dreamcast bad.

I would like to throw in a few cents though... If the 360 wants to see more action from me, RELEASE A FREAKIN RPG THATS WORTH MY TIME AND EFFORT DAMNIT. All thats out there is garbage, BioWare (snooty garbage), and Bethesda games. Ive had my fix of realism, GIVE ME A FREAKIN RPG...

People need to relax and take a breather. It's been a slow news week even with Comic-Con. So Mike either posts this, ninja's something from someone else on the site, or doesn't post at all. I'm all for getting something to read personally.

Can't you scratch that itch by reading the back of every food box in the cupboard? You'd actually glean more useful information doing that than you would reading this idiotic news post.

Alternatively it speaks very highly of Hiphophippo's creative spirit.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up, but to 'upgrade' a current Xbox 360 Elite to an 'S' from a stock configuration is at least $100 (200 if one doesn't have a 250GB HDD). Let me point out the biggest thing that he had not mentioned. The Xbox 360 'S' has built in WiFi. That's right, owners do not have to shell out $100 for wireless when it is built into the Xbox 360 S. So please...At least put in all the facts before jumping into 'the Xbox 360 S is too much' stuff.
You're making the assumption that everyone will want to upgrade to wireless & a 250GB hard drive. Personally, I could care less about wi-fi, and even just 20Gb is enough for me. I would bet most people who want a dirt cheap console just want to be able to play their games & have plenty of room for their saves. They don't need all the bells & whistles, and they certainly don't want to pay for them.

I got my price drop on a 360 thanks to Walmart.com. They're doing bundle deals with 360 consoles. I got an Elite with 2 games, a Play 'N Charge kit, 1600MS points, & a card for 3 months of a Gold account all for $250 & free shipping. Plus, since it's an Elite & not the new 360S I get a 3yr warranty instead of 1yr with an untested design. Not to mention I much prefer the look of the Elite to the 360S. The S just looks like they tossed an Elite down the stairs & then polished it up. :p

So I can get 120 gb PS3 for 299. Or I can get a 250 gb 360 for 299. But the 360 needs a price drop? Really? I guess that extra 120 gbs is valued in the negatives.
Compared to Blu Ray, Free online play and having some exclusives it is. The PS3 is running rampant over the 360 in terms of value for money right now.

@ Rack from previous post:

Agreed, plus to the quote of your post there tends to be forgetfulness when it comes to the extra $50 that needs shelling out for proper use of xbl. the party system of which is (sadly) superior to anything the psn provides, but at least most of the content is free. I plan to drop cash on the psn+ later this year when my qore runs out just to see what I can get from it.

OP: of course sales are down, they should always be down for a product that DOESN'T BLOODY WORK.

I had 6 (having purchased 1 and then me sending it in for "repair" [replacement] 5 times) before I woke up and went with the playstation. That is my suggestion to everyone who owns or plans to purchase an xbox.

What will Pachter's next wonderous prediction be? Perhaps that many people are angry at Kinect's pricing and that they too are waiting for a price drop? Oh how insightful he is!

Honestly, this man's crap isn't worth the virtual paper the it's written on. He either tells us the obvious or is completely and utterly wrong.
Indeed. Isn't this the same prick who said that Activision has to get a subscription service for CoD? He's an idiot.
Um... no. He said that Activision is mostly likely to go with a "Premium Online" package or Micropayments to carry-out Kotick's vision of a subscription-based CoD, and that doing so would likely work-out well for them. He never said that they have to do the subscription service, he just said that they will do it, but a subscription likely won't be required.

I don't know if he said that, but I know he said he predicted despite Kotick saying he wanted it to be subscription based months before. He fulfilled his requirements of being wrong and obvious all in one there.

Boo-friggin-hoo.

Do you know what 300US is in Australian dollars?

AU$336.35

Do you know what the RRP is for the 360S in Australia? AU$450.

Unless you live in a country where the cost for games is similar to what we have to pay, you don't get the right to complain about prices.

Either that or Highly of Banjo Kazooie. Sorry you didn't get into like I did. The vehicle customization is very nearly all I need in life.

It is STILL a SLIMMED down xbox 360, and that is what it is, Microsoft could call it the babadee boopie extrodenaire and it would still be a Slimmed down 360, It's not like he's calling the sky green and stating it as fact, he's just calling something the most logical name you would call it, that is still correct in terms of description and function. He's not claiming to know something he obviously doesn't know about, because he is still technically correct. Heck I don't know anyone that's ever used the expression S XBOX360 S.
And what does that S stand for do you think? Oh yes SLIM. Yaaaay *clap....clap....clap*

It is true...it is pricy, and has been around for a long time and has never taken a price drop.

That does need to change
