The broken neck ghost in the first Fatal Frame.

You first see her as your wandering around, at just the edge you see a white figure fall to the ground and the detector turns warm(an indication of a hostile ghost).

You pull out the camera and look around. A kimono comes floating up to you... It's a little eerie but not that scary.

Then when she gets close she snaps around. You see her head bent back so that it is resting on her back, with bumps showing where her neck was broken. Her eyes and mouth are wide open and you hear the most creepy wail of all time.

First time I saw her (in a group playing with someone else playing) I got so scared I tried running. Only I had forgotten I was sitting in a chair. Needless to say a nasty bump on the head and plenty hugs of reassurance followed. XD

I know it's been a boken record when it comes to scary moments but
The Cradle.

I had actually heard a tiny bit about it before getting there, so I was anticipating this thing the whole time.
The moment the level loaded I felt the atmosphere of unease. Nothing was alive, nothing moved. No lights, no guards.
It's a void.

Once I finally made my way inside to the inner area, and I walked up to the desk and saw the figure that darts past so quickly that you will have had wondered if you had seen anything at all. I fucking FROZE.

No me in real life, I sat in my lawn chair with my ice tea next to me, storm raging outside (yeah) and stared at the screen for 3 minutes.
I felt my mind actively telling me not to go any further. I felt true, unbelievable horror that night. I screamed, a lot. And I've never felt so much like a cowering mouse fleeing for my life.
I remember when I finished the level I felt a cauldron of emotions but mainly joy, relief and anxiety. My body was shaky for around 10 minutes after I turned the game off.
That was pretty much my exact Shalebridge Cradle experience, right down to the 3 minute freeze at the exact same moment as you while I processed what I thought I'd seen (whatwasthatwhatwasthatwhatwasthat), decided the game was still just jerking my chain, and proceeded.

It wasn't.

Any time I hear one of these horrible bastards coming.

It's even better when you turn around and three or more of either those or deathclaws are charging at you.

Minecraft when you're moving through a cave, you hear an enemy that you can't see, and suddenly they seem to drop down from nowhere. That startles me without fail. During the time I'm exploring a cave, I'm a nervous wreck.
I must have had this happen to me at least five times today alone. Heck, any time something or someone comes up behind me and kills/nearly kills me when I'm a bit on edge always makes me jump.

Containment Breach.

Beginning 10 seconds to.... 30 seconds into the beginning.

I pissed in my drawers a little only about 30 seconds, hit escape, exited, deleted, purged.

I even thought about smashing my computer...
You wimp, its cute. It just wants a hug, look at its face and tell me that it means you harm.

the repercussions happened, and I had to put the controller down and go outside for about 3 cigarettes before i could continue playing

OH GOD, someone made an SCP Foundation game? I'm torn between asking where I can get it, or not...
Well, the game is currently in the process of being made. You can play it for free, but it's in Alpha so there is no way to win at the moment (the projected goal being to escape the facility, but you can't at the moment). It's functional and can be quite nerve-wracking.

I know that SCP-173 is in the game, as you can see, and so is 106 and at least one more (I forget the number, but it's the one where if you watch the video feed of it, it drives you insane/kills you. It involves a coffin, if I remember right). If any others are, I haven't made it far enough to find them. It is very, very easy to die and the facility is randomly generated each time you start a new game.

This ************ right here. I hate being underwater in games in general, but I was terrified of this shit when I was little; especially on the mission where you'd to lure him out of the cave to get the star on his tail, and the way you'd occasionally turn round to find him right behind you.
Yes! I'd forgotten about that. Scared the crap outta me the first time I swam past it and it lunged out at me.

I was pretty scared the first time I saw ghouls in Fallout 3. I spent literally 5 minutes just watching them wondering how to kill them, then I figued out I could shoot them through the gate and that made me feel better but then one of them snuck up on me in a metro tunnel and made me scream. Hate those damn things, especially the noises they make.

Ghoul mask. It feels good after having been scared by them to walk right up to one and shove a shotgun shell right down its throat.

The worst game for me is FEAR 1. I think it was about the third level, and I was getting scared throughout, but I was climbing through an air duct, lights went out, flicker back on with the creepy girl doing the quick spider walk towards me, lights flickered off and on again, and I was still emptying the rest of my auto-shotty's magazine into the duct. Exited game, uninstalled, never played again.

When I was little the zombies in Ocarina of Time scared me. Whenever I did the Shadow Temple, I would mute the TV and listen to "Miami" by Will Smith on repeat.

I used to have the same terror of going underwater in games thanks to this guy:

I remember playing HL2 for the first time and being terrified of going in the water in case one of those fuckers was in there.
