I actually quite like this show, it's potty humor out the ass but it doesn't get bogged down by it and to be honest the Transformers episode was to awesome to properly describe.

On that mark the artists on this team are indeed really really good, I've counted at least 5 different artistic styles and each of them defines the show in the way it was meant to.

I've been seeing bit and pieces of this around, and immediately recognized it as Gainax work before I even knew what it was. It looks like its set in the same universe as Dead Leaves or something.

What's the story on the episodes, is there a full translated season available?

I'm in the middle of watching Wakfu's first season right now, but if someone can point me towards a torrent or something I'd kind of like to give Panty & Stocking a shot.

As a huge anime fan, I've learned to never judge an anime by the title alone, so I gave this anime a fair trial and watched a few episodes before deciding I didn't care for it. I really enjoyed the animation and artwork, but that's about where my like for the series ends.

I really hate all the unnecessary fan service. It seems so pointless, so it puts me off. Aside from that, I truly hated the characters. They seemed so bland - Panty likes sex, Stocking likes candy, Garterbelt is the generic "soul brother" reverend and hard ass...eh. It seemed like each character had one overpowering trait and that's where they kept it at. To each their own, but this wasn't my cup of tea.

I watched the videos on here and I'm caught between having my mind broken and doubling over laughing. I have no idea what to even think about this.

I watched the season awhile back after a friend showed me a couple episodes at his house. Gotta say it's a very entertaining show and actually gets kinda badass later in the season. Favorite episode though is the introduction of Scanty and Kneesocks their fight with Panty and Stocking is just too awesome and funny.

The thing I find that makes the show so great is that they don't get bogged down in a large overarching story. Instead they string together a loose Over-Plot using quick and clever 11 minute stories. Also the liberal references to movies and such helps make for some fun episodes.

A good summation of the show is what you'd get if you took Invader Zim and crossed it with The Venture Brothers.

Wow, I forgot I made this topic. Yay for reviving four-month-old threads!

Anyways, I've seen the entire since I made this, and I think this is officially one of my FAVORITE animes ever now.

Highlights include episode 7 (which involves robot sex at one point), and the final episode. That episode... just completely screwed with all my perceptions of how an anime is supposed to work.

SOOOO glad I decided to NOT heed Masako's advice and watch the series.

Yeah try having a female, or even a male, coworker ask what your watching or listening to(I put the ost on my phone, love jumping mole) its not awkward at all

I won't deny that it's a good series and I actually like it, but really, the only two episodes that are really worth bragging about are the first episode and the episode where the Anarchy Sisters meet and fight Scanty and Kneestocks (episode six, I believe). They are crazy, over the top, and full of action, which is what this show should have been more about.

Yeah, it's all right. Some episodes can be hit-and-miss, and the ending of the final episode is a complete mindfuck, but...yeah. I enjoyed the ride.

It gets really weird with the Transformers spoof and the narrator gets confused.

Geez, talk about necroing an old-ass thread. Can't believe it's been almost 3 years since I first laid eyes on P&SwG.

Ah, if only I knew what was in store for me from this anime when I first wrote that first post. My head would have exploded.

Quite frankly I LIKE it! Well ok the show may have it ups and down but when it come out on DVD (all episodes box set) I will buy it. I only buy anime DVD that I really like the show so much I have to own a physical copy of it.

*looks at his Blu-Ray copy of "Season 1" of Panty & Stocking* Well, at least season 1 is out on both DVD and Blu-Ray... and I, too, only buy physical copies of anime I really like to the point that I must have the series on DVD...


Anyway, I love anything that Gainax puts out (with the exception of only one series so far that whenever I do bring it up, we all seem to be at an agreement) and this series is no exception. The different art styles and parodies that are put in the first 26 episodes is what truly made me want to buy it on DVD, at first... (I ended up getting it on Blu-Ray because this girl at one of the local anime conventions I went to sold it to me at the same price as the DVD...)


Although, I can see how this series in particular can be a "like/love it" or "hate/don't really like it" type of series, given the series overall presentation... Even when the series is questioned whenever one of the style choices used was intentional or was due the a lack of a consistent budget coming from Gainax (which would not be the first time, mind you), I, for one, still find enjoyment of re-watching this series and many others many times over...
