Okay, now you're coming across as thin-skinned AND paranoid. What exactly were you trying to say? Because I, full honesty, have no idea what that previous post about Nazis was supposed to communicate. Just break it down for me. What were you trying to say?
This:
"
Yes, and those undesirable traits were generally seen in non-whites, resulting in the forced sterilization of many black women who ended up in prison without their knowledge or consent. Eugenicists were pretty big on saying that the reason that so many black people lived in poverty wasn't because of things like Jim Crow. No, they argued it was because black people were genetically inclined to be lazy, stupid and criminal.
"
I wanted to show you it's a narrow view of the subject.

I'm not in favor of eugenics. My friend is a big fan, though. We have arguments about it sometimes, for example he doesn't think women have a human right to be mothers, etc. It's not necessarily racist, though. Classic eugenics as I understand it is about breeding out genetic defects and undesired traits by denying reproductive rights to individuals that have those traits. Cut the bloodline at the stem. Is it pseufo-science if we are able to abort unborn children if we detect genetic defects?
Even further, you could seek genetic compatibility with a partner (which is something mandatory for the ashkenazi jewish community, on account of their history with genetic defects) before you even marry. You could select sperm and eggs in a laboratory (which is what is currently the cutting edge).
I'd say that the majroity of people aren't qualified to have children and shouldn't procreate in this time we are living in.

Yeah, same with my friend. I get the sentiment, but I can't deny women's right to be mothers.

It's literally what happened in the US.

https://www.npr.org/sections/health...ling-that-led-to-70-000-forced-sterilizations

Marginalized groups like POC were disproportionately affected by this. In the end, biological determinism was proven to be bullshit pseudo-science, but my racist fucking country continued the practice of forced sterilization well into the goddamn 1970's! Nazi Germany is simply the most famous exhibit of the atrocities of the eugenics movement.

I didn't think eugenics was racist. This is why I argued wit you. It's also why I gave the example in Germany.
Sweden was also a big proponent :

The eugenics movement was not exclusive to the US, you are correct. I bring up my own country's crimes in this regard because, like most of our other failings, we refuse to talk about it. Somebody has to say something and the victims were frequently people who already had their voice taken away.

Ok, ok. I tried to bring this forward - eugenics isn't inherently racist. Thinking people with genetic defects don't deserve to live isn't racism, it's a different brand of awful.

Believing that undesirable traits are endemic to certain ethnicities is very much racist. It is possible to be sexist, racist, albeist and other forms of bigotry simultaneously. In fact, bigots are rarely bigoted toward only one group. Once the irrationality of bigotry infects your thinking, it will spread to the rest of your thoughts. Jean-Paul Sartre described this in his observations about anti-Semites.

Well...in theory it's not inherently racist, but given the way it's been promoted in the last 100 years say, it's very intertwined with racism in practice.

Elon Musk: I'm all about could'a! Not should'a!

You'd think a dude that paranoid about Skynet becoming a thing wouldn't be quite so eager to turn everyone into cyborgs with unsecured backdoors in their firewalls.
From what I remember of that Rogan interview Musk considers human cognitive processing too slow to keep up with the inevatible A.I. uprising so neuralink is there to more or less level the playing field. The guy is anything if not ambitious. The possible therapeutic applications of neuralink could be life changing for many people.

It won't be fast enough to keep up with the inevitable AI rising even if we do stick a few microchips in people's brains. The AI is going to have (or take control of) a massive supercomputer, it'll have some smarter-than-normal ants to squash.

That's assuming that sticking microchips in people's brains doesn't just gift the AI a backdoor straight into their minds. Now THAT would be embarrassing.

Haha..I feel that would be a great movie script right there.

Ambitious, but not as smart as he thinks he is. I'm not even a tech guy and I can see a bunch of problems with this that he'll probably ignore.

True, but with neuralink he's trying though. That is the most important part. You never know what comes out of it.

To try is one thing. What concerns me is Musk doesn't seem aware of the law of unintended consequences. We all agree that the internet has enabled some great things. The ways the unscrupulous have chosen to use it... not so much.

What I can guarantee is that there's always going to be at least one prick who will use it to make other people's lives a misery.

Wouldn't it, though?
