They're all jerks, the parents were slightly bigger jerks, but they seemed to have morphed junior into being a jerk as well. If they had a problem with games and all that "devil stuff" why'd they let it into their house in the first place?
And if they figured that junior would have the reaction he did, then they knowingly wasted the police's time, which is a horrible inconvenience at best.
^^^ what he said.

And @OP that as a entertaining read, care to share any more stories?

(captcha: orwans concept. And what concept is that?)

just gotta say the fact that you're a cop and you have stryker (striker?) as your avatar is fucking awesome.

Now I'm a very faithful person however I think religion is an absolute mockery of what it means to be faithful. I pray every night because I believe in god not because I believe in Christianity or Judaism or whatever. The reason I bring this up is because I believe this child has been put in this situation with these kind of parents to better himself and learn from not only his mistakes but theirs as well. They also have given you a story which you then reported on this site and to which one point in the story is actually very relevant to a situation I am having right now. I think I know what to do to make my situation better now... Good thing for coincidence huh?

The parents are idiots, your colleges were doing the right thing. Maybe if the parents hadn't thrown away the Xbox it might still be working, or not. The RROD works in strange ways. Pass on my compliments to the detectives for doing their job and doing it well.

You'd be shocked what people will call the police for. I was called out to a burger king because a woman said she was "mugged" (her exact words). When we got there she was mad because they messed up her order and they refused to fix it. The matter was resolved by me and my patrol-partner in this way.
We made BK change her goddamn order. While she ate in the parking lot I told the manager how that was pretty poor business practice he said "she comes in all the time and does this, so that she doesn't have to pay. I've had enough".
So feeling generous I went to the ladies car explained her the situation and let her know that the manager is allowed to call me if she comes back. Ever. I also charged her with false reporting of a misdemeanor. Telling her technically I could do it for a felony since she said 'mugged.'
She threatened to sue me personally. That was like 8 years ago... still waiting...

I'm sure I could think of more If I tried.

You'd be amazed at how often we get called cuz two neighbors' screaming match is about to erupt into blows over something so fucking trivial. (He runs his sprinklers at night! It's messing up my lawn!)

I think the parents were cowards.

And I think you and the other officers are disgraceful if you judged that wealth level had anything to do with this story as described.

Also since when does "closed case" allow you to breach confidentiality? Maybe the laws are different where you are...but this OP smells.

It's just the title. No one judged them on their wealth level. It was the behavior. Damn people are touchy maybe I should just change it? You're right to be suspicious anyone could claim such things on the Internets. I am however for reals.

Cases that have no chance of going to court are allowed to be discussed. This is typically an 'unofficial rule' Besides anything marked "closed" is absolutely public record and allowed to be discussed.
How do you think so many cops go on to write autobiographies?

Sure they're scattered on the site but a lot of them are in [a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.177017-Ask-a-detective-undercover-cop?page=1]Here.[/a] I believe educating the public (even the global public) is important for good community relations.
Maybe me talking to you guys will help you be more forthcoming/cooler to the cops in your area.

I have had horrible experience with perfectly fine police officers being stopped by some politically bullshit.

MY four week old brother cries at night, normal, my paranoid next door neighbor bangs on the walls, thinks we have listening devices in our microwave to monitor her and then calls up her family to literally shout abuse at my mother who had recently given birth.

we called the police, the group left and when we tried to file a complaint we got the reply that she was 'unstable' and therefore not responsible for her own actions meaning we couldn't do shit against her.

The look on officers face when he told us this was like he had just swallowed shit, the entire road despises this victimizing ***** next door who harrases everyone and because she has a large equally vulgar family nearby thinks that she can control us.

Which is then pretty much proven when the policemen say they can't legally so anything because the ***** is insane, god the system is flawed.

...
man that felt good to get off my chest.
The shit? Disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct can be charged to the mentally challenged. It can ESPECIALLY be charged to her family members. This sounds extra stupid. I'm sorry you're in that situation. File a complaint with the city and or county. Whatever your local procedures are. There is no reason this should be allowed to go on. If they can't handle the person with that problem they should put them in an assisted living home.

Tons of the guys in jail are on anti-psychotic meds. (or anti-depressants. you should see pill time)
