The world's going to shit. I can honestly foresee in under 10 years time a picture of your child eating a banana as child abuse, honestly.

What the hell? You do know what pedophile means. It means you rape kids...
No it does not.
I concur with your correction.

Pedophilia is merely the attraction to adolescents and pre-adolescents.

Raping children places the moniker of "child molester," a term with far less ambiguity.
Good point, and it's not even that much. Paedophiles are pre-pubescents children only. The sexual preference to pubescents and adolescents are called Hebephilia and Ephebophilia respectivally.

This is an important point, designations like paedophile or ephebophile are discriptives of sexual preference and\or orientation only. They imply neither disorder nor "fetish". Though they may when used in relation to chronophilia.

For instance, most people on this forum are teleiophiles. (attraction to adults.)

Remember this, having a sexual attraction to children makes one no more likely to rape a child than having a sexual attraction to women means you're going to rape the next women you meet. Get? Got it? good?
I would concur with your respecification of terms in relation to orientations, but would counter on two points.

I make a half-hearted point in saying that semantics have broadened the use of the term 'pedophilia' to any individual with an attraction to another individual that is considered a minor, though instances of teenagers having relations with 20 year olds does bring a shroud of ambiguity into the matter.

This is similar in the way that "hacker' has grown to cover both 'hacker' and 'cracker,' due to media coverage and popularization. As a result, specifications have grown to cover 'ethical hackers,' and 'malevolent hackers.'

Pardon the aside, but the analogy was necessary for the point to be made.

The second point of argument is thus: In comparing the expression and restraint of sexual desires between pedophiles (and other mentioned categories,) and teleiophiles, there is a distinct difference. One's actions are legal and accepted by society, and the other's are not. This means, relative to the laws in place, any physical act to consummate one's desires in terms of pedophilia is automatically rape (a discussion of consent is not necessary,) While a vast majority of acts consummating teleiophilia, are not.

(Edit: To answer your questions, Yes I get it, as mentioned I got it, and I must say that a great deal of it is good.)

this is another reason why americans as a whole have such a bad name in other countries.
(no offence to you normal americans, i'm referring to the general stereotype)

well i think kudos to the parents for sueing walmart, though really they dont have much of a chance, seeing as they're fighting against a corporate giant with the best lawyers, mountains of money, etc...

...What does this have to do with Americans? Other than it taking place in America?
Because this wouldn't happen anywhere else besides the US. The level of paranoia over there is insane. This would never happen in Australia, people tend to be more level-headed.
Don't even make me laugh. I went to bed, so I didn't get a chance to respond to this comment until now, but I clearly don't have to. Other people have already responded and made a mockery of that ignorant comment. All of this "OH MAN THAT STUFF WOULDN'T HAPPEN HERE!" is getting ridiculous. Do some research before you start pointing fingers, and saying ignorant stuff like that.
nyeh, ***** and rave all you like, but it's prettty true. anyway, i'm not saying this out of the blue to piss you all off, some people agreed with me:

Hear Hear. Only in America would this happen. Not the suggestion of sexual abuse by some cockgoblin of a employee, granted, that could happen anywhere. But only in America would the entire process go as far as the kids ACTUALLY BEING TAKEN AWAY by child services before someone says "what the fuck?". To get to that point it would have been put past the store manager, then to some level of relevant authority like the police, who then would have put it to child services, who would have then taken people over to take away the kids. HOW IN HELL did it get this far without someone piping up saying "Wait a minute, this is totally normal, there's absolutely no ground for sexual abuse". The only place IN THE WORLD where it would get to that stage is America, because you have a bunch of paranoid panicky twats over there who will jump at the first opportunity to blow shit out of proportion.

P.S No offense to any level headed Americans reading this. For the most part you're a fun bunch.

This is why I say the pedophile hysteria is just pointless.

Eventually pedophiles will be accepted and you can hate something else, these things go in cycles.

It wasn't very long ago it was perfectly acceptable to think of black people as lesser beings, now all of a sudden saying such things will shock people.

It wasn't very long ago it was perfectly acceptable to make fun of homosexual people, and point out how their "brains are defective". Nowadays this is not acceptable.

Pedophiles are next, all of a sudden your "kiddy fiddler" jokes will be looked down upon.
Not sure if I agree entirely here, but I agree with where you're coming from. Once upon a time in ancient Greece it was viewed as normal for a married man to have young boys as concubines.

OT: What a dick of a Walmart employee
Given the unpredictability of human nature, it just might...
That's kinda scary...

No, my issue is with people like you who do stereotype. You say you're so level-headed, well how about showing some common sense to boot? You think we were the only ones that wanted to fight back against terrorism? You think were the only ones who show disdain for this whole pedohilia outrage and want to do something about it? Due to the Kenneth Baker mis-vote back in the 90's, teachers can be sacked for touching a child in anyway. Even in reflex or self-defence. That's how fucked up it's got.

But watch out about that, we have some people here who believe that slapping the back of a child's leg is akin to paedophilic rape.

So the guy at the state department(the wal-mart guy is clearly right for atleast saying something), who´s workplace PC is overflowing with kiddy porn(for investigation, of course), can´t make out the difference between PORN and a Family photo?
God damn, people are getting stupider each legislation period it seems.

It´s common practice, i can see a picture of me and my bro in the tub at the age of maybe 1 from here, so have i seen naked pics of some other friends of mine when their mom had too much egg nog.
I could also go to some lakes in the summer and see a shitton of 3-5 year olds run around naked.

Or the local Kindergarten (conviniantly placed next to the cemetary btw), where when temperature rises, the kids run around in ther undies, i have not yet seen anyone spying on them, but that doesn´t mean there arent...theres houses all around, and someone with a good magnifieing glass can see them.

So wtf america, maybe your state officials can grow half a brain or develop a civlian life and see things as they are.
Or that wal-mart guy.
Because i mean, taking away their KIDS?
Do they know what DAMAGE that can cause in a child?

Well they are wondering about the degeneration of the youth then...

We have a TV-campaign for totally that purpose...it sais if you look at childporn, it´s no abuse, but the making of childporn IS! In the background is slowly loading (hello 56k) a picture of some guy with some boy in a bedroom, the boy and the guy seem to have no shirt on from what you can make out.
Then there´s this "Kids need protection....so does their family." and then the full picture pops up and and it´s just a family photo with the daughter and mom sitting on the floor on the front of the bed.
I think it makes a huge impact, but i guess nobody grasps it...
Like my best friend who just committed to me "Don´t go vote the pirates, they are pedos, they don´t want that Childporn is blocked." But he probably was too drunk to realise that the state then can shut down all his pretty illegal downloading forums where people distribute illigally made rips of movies, by just saying "there was Child porn on it!", which nobody could check then, if they would make this censorshit serrious.

I didn't notice it was going around in circles, because it wasn't, until you stopped the conversation. Also, your father sounds like a very smart man.

what.... the.... fuck....!

this is another reason why americans as a whole have such a bad name in other countries.

Man! Someone agreed with you? Your "point" is now valid! I'm sorry for ever considering your "general stereotype" ignorant.
Soo, is your issue with the stereotype?
Or the fact that you cant handle that the US in general (note in general) seems to be incredibly paranoid about any new scare fad. First it's terrorism. "oh noes kill alllll the muslims! they all want to kill us! argh, *****, moan, etc. Then paedophilia. "omg some parents are taking PHOTOS of their kids! nude! oh, its not like that isnt normal or anything, but still, they could be PAEDOS!"(not like parents havent seen their children naked or anything before.
No, my issue is with people like you who do stereotype. You say you're so level-headed, well how about showing some common sense to boot? You think we were the only ones that wanted to fight back against terrorism? You think were the only ones who show disdain for this whole pedohilia outrage and want to do something about it? I'm starting to consider everyone else outside of the US assholes...in general of course.
hehe. you're fun.

smart man? well ok, if you count a man with asperger's syndrome who is responsible for the destruction of my family smart.

Welcome to the new America, where the law is so fucked up that you can't take a picture of your own fucking child.

In response to the huge debate on what pedophelia is and stuff, my only problem is the definition of children. Currently, our revered Conservative Government in Canada has set the age of consent at 16. People under 18 can do whatever they want with anyone as long as they are within 5 years. Remember yourself when you were in grade 10, 15 years old? Did you ever ever fantisize about doing it with a woman, maybe from a porn? Well, if she was 21, she will go to prison for AT LEAST 10 years. Go Harper. In the U.S., it's even more insane, as the age of consent is 18. If it were even lowered, it would surely cause in uproar in the "shouldn't have sex until they're married anyway" crowd, who are probably using an age of consent to help push people towards being abstinent until marriage. Then of course, they will get a divorce because they are honestly under the impression that love should come before sex, rather than being natural, which would have that the other way around.
