I think its appropriate for the Harvard Lampoon to give that award to her.

It has hints of both irony and truth to it. Ironic in the sense that X of the Year awards are usually given to important people who have made a sociopolitical impact. Truthful, in that Paris Hilton is one of the major media products(and she is a product more than a person to us)to come out of the sea change that is occuring with our definitions of public and private lives.

As a cultural marker, she's actually very important, as a humanitarian or influential leader, not so much.

On reflection, you're prolly right. It just grinds my gears when people bandy about insults like 'whore' like an immature 8 year old. I guess it'll have to slids this time.

i really don't use whore too often in my life in fact it's one of the words i reserve for special occasions but the simple fact that paris hilton's only marketable skill is being a spooge sucking airhead and yet is making her a "media darling" of somekind. it envokes eye popping rage from the center of my being because not only is she boring, ugly, and stupid, but I get called pervert and worse for enjoying scenes of sexuality and watching REAL porn, not some fake hollywood porn where some ugly chic bangs a total dipstick. so i use whore to describe paris hilton and anna nicole and pamela anderson, because i don't use it much it's the only word i can think of that fully expresses my hatred for these people
