First of all you should check whether it's legal to fly it where you live, since flying drones isn't
that much fun if you have to pack it in a car, go some where and then fly around for 10-15 minutes until the batteries run dry and then head home to recharge.
In my country it's illegal to fly model planes (this includes helicopters and quad-copters) within city limits. And it's illegal to fly anything above a certain weight outside model airfields. I don't think I'd get in trouble for flying my mini-quad within city limits since it's a toy (it's like 7cm across) but it's technically illegal. There is also a restriction on how high you can fly it since you are not allowed in commercial airspace, and commercial airspace can be so low it's technically illegal to toss a frisbee.
You are probably also not allowed to film private property and if I were American I'd be afraid of someone shooting my drone if i flew it near someones private property. And also if I was American I'd shoot any drone that threatened my privacy, just so you know us potential drone killers are out there.
WiFi controlled drones are also easier to hijack since they have, AFAIK, very low or no protection on their signal. The hijacking part might be bullshit... But a drone set up with it's own WiFi for stealing other drones isn't unimaginable.
I have limited experience with flying quad-copters but I have flown an Parrot AR for a while and I own a babby's first quad-copter and IMO the little one is more fun, safe for indoor use, flies perfectly fine in no to low wind, is unbreakable (as in hit something and the blades fly off and the super light, sturdy plastic quad crashes instead of the blades and frame breaking) and it has a real controller instead of an app. It also has a stunt-button that makes it do flips in 4 directions (6 if you're fancy with the throttle) while it makes a very aggressive buzzing noise.
Mine looks like this [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Version-Upgraded-Hubsan-H107L-Quadcopter/dp/B00DSZA3VU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416930879&sr=8-1&keywords=quadcopter] but has a better controller. I think the Hubsan is the original mini-quad, though. It's not as impressive as an AR.Drone or a DJI Phantom. It also doesn't stream video but it's more fun to fly IMHO. It's also dirt cheap
