What's up with Ocarina of Time's Water Temple? Didn't seem to be much of an issue to me, in terms of difficulty or irritation factor.
Apparently it was altered in the rereleases, I forget how exactly, but I think they made putting the iron boots on and off involve less cumbersome inventory GUI. Other then that, most people played it as kids, and its a weird map and mechanic for kids to wrap their heads around.
Colored lines were also added that lead to the spots to change the water levels which also greatly helped.

The boss, Frank, from Mad World. I remember going to the GameFaq forum and everybody complained about the boss being "too cheap" or hard. Frank was and is pretty easy and boring to fight. A bit tedious, but nowhere near hard as people made him out to be. Apparently, a lot of players died on their first playthrough because of him. I only got killed by him one time, and that was on my third playthrough on Hard.

Sonic 1's Labyrinth Zone. If I can get through this stage easily at the age of 4, what's everyone else's excuse? People still have trouble with this stage now.

I suppose off the top of my head would be Blightown from Dark Souls. My first run through it had less deaths than most other areas of the game, and I played on the PS3 version with the framerate issues. Funny thing though is I think it helped me play more cautiously, and it was never bad enough to cause deaths due to control being compromised.

Personally I actually kinda like Blightown, especially when stalking the swamps for Large Titanite shards, looking up at the pale blue sky poking through the towering trees. It can be a pretty peaceful, tranquil place to reflect and ponder the game's themes, if you will.

That one Vice City mission from Avery, with the RC helicopter. To the point I'm asked to do this for others.

I had a friend, who was playing LA Noir, and she was just NOT able to drive the car during a tailing mission. We were gaming buddies for roleplaying, so I showed up for our weekly session, and she was super pissed on the couch, apparently having played the mission over a dozen times, and just not able to do it. I offered to do the part for her, and she agreed. I proceeded to finish it on the first try.

I'm not any GTA, driving expert or anything, but I have played enough sandbox games to be decent with driving mechanics, especially Rockstar mechanics, so it wasn't much of an issue for me. She was pleased, but also slightly miffed that I did it on the first try.

Dark Souls: Capra Demon. Granted, a friend and I were going through at the same time, so I didn't have to solo it, but even with help the Capra Demon is notoriously unfair. Round 1: Quickly died because I had no idea what to expect. Noticed the demon, noticed the dogs. Round 2: Died. Figured out that the stairs were the key. Round 3: Got up the stairs, killed the dogs, killed the demon. My friend...did not fare so well when he was hosting. Bonus points here for the fact that said friend was better informed than I and is in all frankness usually a better player than I am.
Really?

I got the sucker on my first try. I just danced around him and cut his dogs up first and then went at him with a high damage weapon since he was pretty easy to stagger.

As for my own experiences, I hear people complain constantly about how obnoxious they think parrying is in Metal Gear Rising. It really isn't, it's pitifully easy actually. You just flick the left stick forward (or press the forward key if you're the kind of psychopath that likes playing action games with a keyboard and mouse) and tap your light attack button.

Yet even after I explain this to people it's still lost on them and I'm just sitting there watching a beat down of Raiden even more stupid than the end of the game......and that's really hard to manage.

Blighttown is a great piece of level design. I suffered and gave up the first time because I entered it from the wrong side when I was underleveled, using the Master Key.
It's clearly influenced by Valley of Defilement-1&2, but what I like is it's much less claustrophobic on the upper half. I took about a month or two hiatus just working up the nerve to get through the first Valley section.

Shadow Yukiko in Persona 4. Lots of people said that was a hard fight and was unexpectedly hard but while I didn't find it easy, I also didn't struggle with it and beat the boss either on my first try or second.

In Dark Souls 3, I routinely destroy the Dancer of the Boreal Valley and Pontiff Sulyvahn, two bosses that are often placed on toughest boss fights lists.

In a similar vain; When it comes to the Ornstein and Smough fight, I actually find fighting Ornstein easier. So I always kill Smough first. I think it's because I tend to react too quickly, so I can dodge lightning fast attacks, but always get hit by attacks with ponderous wind ups.

Kouryu, the final boss of Last Blade 2. While he does suffer from the SNK boss syndrome, I can body him without any issues with Amano (on MVS difficulty).

Apparently Blood Starved Beast is infamous in the Bloodborne community for being difficult. I beat him pretty quickly. Thought he was a total pushover. Which is funny, since the rest of the game was brutal during my first playthrough.

God of War, the Hades blade wall.

I heard people had buttloads of hard times with that, but I scaled that well enough after only a couple tries.

Dark Souls 3, The Nameless King - died the first time I fought him, but took zero damage the second round since I'd swapped to a one-hander instead of a two-hander. Meanwhile I needed to summon my buddy in to help me out against the friggin' Curse-Rotted Greatwood, all three times I fought him.

I've never found Anor Londo from "Dark Souls" to be anything more than a mild speed bump. Even the infamous archers and bizarre level design didn't really get me killed often and I never spend much time there.

To be fair about MGR, the game does a really bad job of teaching you the parry in the main game. If you skip the optional tutorial, it just tells you to "throw out your own barrage of light attack while your foe is on the offensive", with no mention of timing or pressing the analog stick in the right direction. (Also, saying you "flick the left stick forward" is inaccurate. You flick it in the direction of the enemy who you wanna parry.)

The thing about Whitney's Miltank is that if it can get a Rollout, which is a move that gets stronger with each successive use, going it can potentially fallen your party. That happened to me the first time I challenged her.

Agreed, as much as I like Rising that is its biggest flaw. I went online and found my subscriber's parry guide video. After that, the game got easier.

That said Raw Shark you can't aimlessly parry by Very Hard or Revengance Mode. You have to know your timing by that point. Even in Normal Mode, by the time a player reaches Monsoon, many gamers had trouble with him. Though I actually didn't die until I got to Armstrong on the first playthrough. But Monsoon did give me a tough time.

I remember my friends having trouble with the garage level in the original Driver. I could do it in less than half of the required time. And I still don't understand how people managed to lose anyone in the "suicide" mission in Mass Effect 2, that shit was too easy. Suicide mission my ass, more like cakewalk mission.
