Path of Exile beta, your thoughts ?

I've been playing Path of Exile beta for a few days now and I have to say, it looks pretty good so far.

It is basically a f2p RPG/hack and slash set in the "dark fantasy world of Wraeclast" (I'm quoting the website) with different leagues where PvE, PvP and coop (if I'm not mistaken) are available.

I would say, art wise, that it's closer to, say, The Witcher, than both Diablo or Torchlight.
The art style is really nice, imo: the gears, the special effects and the maps are well made.

The difficulty seems pleasantly challenging, but I'm not an expert in hack and slash.

Did/Will you try it ? What do you think of it ?

I was going to try it by paying into the closed beta until I heard that you have to stop moving during combat before you cast something. Watching video play-throughs confirmed that's indeed the case. And a dev post in the forums said that won't be changing. Clunky combat turns me off no matter how good a game looks or how great the ideas it has are. (And I do like a lot of the ideas in PoE)

I've been playing it since it's last open beta and am now a bronze supporter of the game. It is pretty amazing. It is everything I wanted from Diablo 3 and didn't get it so it is my ARPG of choice at the moment.
I am taking a bit of a break until open beta however, since all my characters are being wiped shortly. The game has a few kinks that are being ironed out but what is there is right up my alley and pretty damn awesome.
I've been recommending it to everyone I know who would be into the genre.

i tried it last open beta weekend, and i must admit the game has nice graphics for an indie game. i think i will continue playing when next i get a chance.


the only downside to this game, that i can think of, is that it makes my 6 yr old rig shout at me for over exerting it
