So, today the mighty Patrick Stewart was knighted by our lovely Queen. Many people like him for many things.

Me? I fondly remember him doing the VO for Adventure in the Pagemaster movie (he does a great pirate voice).

So, fellow escapists, in what role did you like Sir Stewart in the most.

Gurney Halleck in Dune.

It is a pity that David "hairdo [http://dietrichthrall.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/lynch-david.jpg]" Lynch made such a pigs ear out of the whole thing, because it could have been great.

FUCK YEAH!

He deserves to be knighted.

And like most people, I loved him most as Picard and Xavier.

I thought he was áges ago. Glad he did though, not only is he a great movie actor, but apparently brilliant on stage as well.

I always pictured Halleck as being a lot more gritty with a hidden, civilised side to him, I usually picture Stewart as being the exact opposite.

I love this man, Patrick Stewart. Many congratulations to him on his newly acquired Knighthood and may he continue to be fucking awesome forever and on until the end of time or the bombs drop, which ever comes first.

similar opinion to julianking93 on this, with out the swears though.

I think I saw him in king Lear or hamlet, liked it, he's a versatile actor so any thing he's in he is good. he's kind of funny at the end of Robin hood - men in tights, but it's not that memorable he just makes out with his cousin...

liked him as both Exavier and Picard, although I think the script for Picard might of been lacking, I remember one star trek episode where he was bat crazy. it was pretty dam good acting I think the scrip for that one one might of read "display insanity and deep mental anguish"

I'm surprised he's been knighted so late. But that's just me. I know him from quite a few things, uncluding Star Trek, X-Men, TES: Oblivion and surprisingly (for me) A Christmas Charol. Great actor. Nay, an awesome actor.

Well if you read the article, there are not that many actors who are knighted, so it's a lot more prestigous than you think.

I've found it gets better with repeat viewings. Right now, I can enjoy it quite a lot, but, my main complaint is that it feels long. So very, very, very, very, very long.

As for Mr.Stewart, congratulations! Couldn't have been bestowed on a more deserving Thespian \o/

Ahh but did you ever read the book? The book is a fantastic story, and it bears only a superficial relationship to the film. Not only that, but some of the films more stupid bits are only there because David Lynch thought he was being edge, clever, dark, or whatever, when really he was just being retarded.

The milking cat, or the heart plugs.

As a lover of all things Dune I have to say fuck David Lynch. And I am not suggesting anyone have sexual intercourse with him either. Quite the contrary, we need to make sure that whatever was responsible for managing to mess up the story of Dune so badly should be kept out of the gene pool.

I think there is a star trek video of picard receiving a medal that would fit this day.
